Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO)

As part of the CNO Development Program, this position will require relocation outside of Roswell, NM within an acceptable timeframe for promotion/transfer.

 

Responsibilities of the ACNO include, but are not limited to:

Assist the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in providing leadership to nurse employees that will enroll their support, create ownership of goals, and have them actively participate in decisions that impact the hospitalAssist the CNO in maintaining necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditationsPartnering with physicians who use, or will use, the hospitalAssisting in planning new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenueCreating an environment that will encourage recruiting and retention of clinical employeesAssisting the CNO in managing costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costsAssisting the CNO in establishing standards for nursing practices and maintain authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing servicesDeveloping organizational patient care programs, policies, and procedures that describe how nursing care is assessed, delivered, and evaluated.Assisting the CNO in developing and managing the nursing services budget and ensuring a sufficient number of qualified staff to assess patient needsPlanning and providing nursing care interventions and prevent complications, promote improvement and patient comfort and wellnessAnalyzing areas in planning, promoting and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activitiesRepresenting the nursing services at meetings as deemed necessary; participates with department heads in designing and providing patient care and services

The ACNO will oversee multiple departments within the hospital as assigned. This position reports directly to the CNO and in the absence of the CNO, the ACNO may be required to interpret hospital policy and provide guidance.

Education:

Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institutionMaster's degree required

 

Experience:

Must possess detailed knowledge of hospital nursing operationsMinimum 2 years of demonstrated successful leadership in an acute-care hospital environment (For-profit experience preferred)

 

Certification/License:

Must be a registered nurse (RN) with a current licensure within the state 

 

Abilities:

Must be proficient in written and verbal communication skillsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, physicians, patients, and patient's familiesAbility to maintain confidential information concerning personal, financial, or medical matters
