**Job Summary**
The Assistant Chief Pharmacist provides professional and supervisory skills in the dispensing of medications, counseling to patients and administrative operations of the pharmacy. Assist the Chief Pharmacist in the effective operation of the pharmacy, supervision of ancillary personnel and compliance with regulatory requirements.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Dispense pharmaceuticals to patients in accordance with all regulations.
+ Provide patient education.
+ Assist in the training/supervision of pharmacy technicians.
+ Provide Health Services staff with information about medications including indications, side effects, drug interactions, medication shortages and other aspects of drug therapy and administration.
+ Maintain adequate stock of needed pharmaceutical supplies.
+ Assist with inventory procedures and control of drugs.
+ Maintain an approved method of record keeping.
+ Meet all requirements to keep pharmacist license current.
+ Perform other duties as required.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree or Pharmacy Degree from an approved school of pharmacy and current registration by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Four (4) years of experience as a practicing pharmacist in a retail pharmacy.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Any equipment used in dispensing prescriptions.
+ Exactness in compounding and manufacturing pharmaceutical supplies.
