Department Athletics Division Office of the President Open Date 01/08/2025 Open Until Filled Yes Educational and Experience Requirement Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or related field with a minimum of four years professional coaching experience. CPR, National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa) certifications are preferred. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience. Nature & Purpose of Position Serves as the strength coach for the university’s athletic programs and oversees any special programs within one or more university-recognized intercollegiate activities. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of athletic development in the assigned sport, including daily operations of the weight facility. Designs and executes a program focused on promoting athletic development and enhancing durability. Primary Responsibilities The primary duty of this position is teaching/coaching student athletes in the areas of physical health. Oversees the day-to-day strength training of the football team. Responsible for but not limited to the following duties: Standard and accepted duties of coaching in various athletic activities. Included as typical coaching duties are team supervision and scheduling. Maintains team discipline and moral standard at all times and on special assignments. Teaches, tutors, instructs or lectures student athletes in the rules and fundamentals of their sport. Instructs student athletes in the areas of physical health, team concepts, and safety. Designs instructions for individual or team needs to include team and individual workouts, and coordination with Sports Medicine for athletes under care. Designs and implements scientifically based programming that promotes athletic development and durability. Oversees all aspects of athletic development for the football program and works directly with the head football coach and football staff. Communicates the football program’s weight room schedule and adheres to the general weight room schedule. Performs safety maintenance of the weight room facility and its equipment daily. Maintains clear and consistent lines of communication between Athletic training staff and football coaching staff. Performs other related duties as assigned. Other Specifications Must have a thorough understanding of sports rules, compliance regulations and conference recruiting rules and policies. May be required to teach in an academic program at the discretion of the Director of Athletics. Expected to develop an appropriate rapport with community and University personnel. Must be knowledgeable of all NCAA and conference rules. Must adhere to NCAA and conference bylaws. Must be supportive of institutional compliance and academic programs. Must report all NCAA and conference violations to proper personnel. Must attend practice, meetings, and travel with the team as requested by the head coach.
