Assistant Coach Redbirds Football-Offensive Coordinator

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Head Coach, the Offensive Coordinator will lead all related aspects to the team’s Offensive unit and assist with the coaching and administrative duties for the Redbirds Football Team. The incumbent will be operating under U SPORTS bylaws, university policies and the philosophy and objectives of the Varsity program and athletic department. Objectives are to create an environment which fully develops the potential of all student athletes involved in the program. The Offensive Coordinator will also collaborate in recruiting tasks as well as academic overall success and wellness of McGill Football student athletes.  McGill is an internationally renowned academic institution that promotes excellence in the classroom and on the field of play directed by the values of respect and equity and diversity.



Primary Responsibilities:

Participate in the tactical and technical development of the Offensive unit.Work in conjunction with the Offensive Unit staff to prepare seasonal plans including technical, tactical, and strategic components for the Team’s offense.Supervise and empower offensive coaches, schedule daily and weekly mandates and ensure the completion of required tasks.Work in collaboration with the Head Coach and recruitment coordinator to establish plans to attract the best McGill Candidate student athletes to our Football Program and University.Liaise with sports leagues and associations, Quebec CEGEP Football sport structure.Collaborate with varsity support staff and Football student athlete leadership committee on mental performance, strength and conditioning, nutrition and team culture.Support and monitor the academic progress and eligibility of the football varsity student-athletes.Participate in the organization of team activities and events including coaching clinics/camps, practices, banquets, alumni receptions, and award ceremonies.Active involvement in Provincial or National teams.Attend all required team meetings and represent the program externally when necessary.Comply with all University, RSEQ and U SPORTS rules and regulations.

Undergraduate DegreeMinimum of 5 years’ experience as an Offensive Coordinator or position coach in a higher education institutionNCCP Competition development CertificationExperience in student athlete recruitment, leadership and communication skills and ability to lead a team of 50+ student- athletes.Demonstrated communication skills and ability to interact with all facets of an individual.Experience using MS office suite and Football related software.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Knowledge of French and English.
