Role Summary: 

The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. This position is responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with TireHub policy and U.S. GAAP, producing accurate and timely financial reporting, reviewing and preparing journal entries, managing account reconciliations, and strengthening internal controls. Additionally, this role will oversee sales/use and property tax filing and reporting with our outside service provider and provide support across other finance areas.

This position reports directly to the Controller.

 Role Specifics:

Leadership & Team Management

Leads and develops a team of three accountants and the accounts payable function. Provides training and mentorship to new and existing employees. Serves as a trusted business advisor to other departments to refine accounts/reporting for thorough business analysis. 

Financial Reporting & Compliance

Assists in preparing financial statements in compliance with TireHub policy, shareholder requirements, and U.S. GAAP. Reviews and approves all journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close. Works with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely audits. Reviews company accounting policies and implement updates as needed. Transitions financial reporting to Workday Adaptive Planning. 

Cash Management & Controls

Collaborates closely with treasury to post and reconcile cash activities. Formulates internal controls and policies aligned with established leading practices. Reviews accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances. 

Specialized Accounting Functions

Oversees all facility and fleet vehicle lease accounting in Visual Lease system. Leads the in-sourcing of sales/use and property tax reporting from third-party providers. Identifies and implements improvements to accounts payable processes.

·         Participates and maintains ongoing training requirements through in-class, in-person, or computer-based learning modules, as assigned.

·         Complies with all TireHub policies and procedures.

·         Completes other tasks assigned by their supervisor or another member of leadership.

Education/Experience:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; Master’s degree (MBA or Master’s in Accounting/Finance) is preferred.

·         CPA certification is strongly preferred.

·         Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in Accounting or Finance.

·         Experience in a distribution, logistics, or supply chain environment is a plus.

·         Knowledge of and experience with sales/use tax and property tax reporting.

·         Comprehensive knowledge of sales/use and property tax regulations.

·         Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor preferred) and Visual Lease.

Working Conditions:

·         This is a fast-paced and dynamic operating environment.

·         Most of the time is spent sitting, constantly viewing monitors in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move around. There may be occasions to move or lift light articles.

·         This role is based in our headquarters office in Dunwoody, GA and requires a strong in-person presence.

·         Must be able to travel up to 10%.
