Assistant Controller

Description We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee and manage financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and supporting organizational decision-making. This role will focus on delivering accurate financial reports, maintaining internal controls, and driving efficiency in accounting processes. Based in Columbus, Indiana, this position offers the opportunity to collaborate across departments and contribute to the company’s strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and banking activities, ensuring timely completion of all tasks.
• Oversee monthly close processes by recording journal entries and preparing account reconciliations, with a focus on bank accounts.
• Develop and maintain cash flow management tools to support financial planning and operational efficiency.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to meet compliance requirements and deadlines.
• Prepare and submit tax declarations and statutory filings in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
• Lead budgeting and financial planning activities to align with organizational objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and improve financial outcomes.
• Assist with audits, banking relationships, and insurance-related matters.
• Identify opportunities to enhance accounting systems and processes for greater accuracy and efficiency. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role; manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems such as Epicor, ADP, and Concur.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, fostering collaboration and communication.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Experience with budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and month-end close processes.
• Familiarity with auditing practices and sales tax filings.
