Assistant Controller

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Controller to join our team in Ludington, Michigan. In this role, you will play a crucial part in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate financial reporting. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making by analyzing financial data and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
• Support the development and management of budgeting and financial forecasting processes.
• Reconcile accounts and monitor general ledger activities to maintain financial accuracy.
• Ensure adherence to accounting and tax regulations as well as internal company policies.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and enhance financial reliability.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization.
• Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits, addressing findings and implementing improvements.
• Assist in preparing regulatory filings and documentation required for compliance.
• Lead or contribute to finance-related projects and process improvement initiatives as needed. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in manufacturing or a similar industry.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software and tools, such as Plex, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and month-end close processes.
• Familiarity with standard cost accounting and financial process improvement strategies.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make actionable recommendations.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
