Assistant Controller

Job Details:

The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in the financial management and reporting processes of the organization. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Controller, the Assistant Controller assists in overseeing the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and maintaining compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

Participate in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.

Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and analysis of all financial reports and statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Prepare variance analyses and financial performance reports to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.

Help establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure accuracy of financial records, and comply with regulatory requirements.

Assist in audits and reviews by internal and external auditors, providing documentation and support as needed.

Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance accuracy in financial reporting.

Implement best practices and recommend system enhancements to optimize financial operations.

Promote and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement/training within the accounting department.

Participate in special projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives as assigned by management.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives and achieve organizational goals.

Evaluate, implement, and manage financial systems and software to optimize accounting processes and provide accurate real-time financial data.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
