Job Summary: 

\r\n

The Assistant Controller is responsible for supporting the Controller in managing the Company’s financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and enhancing internal controls. This role includes preparing financial reports, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supervising the accounting staff. The Assistant Controller will also play a key role in audit preparation and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities: 

\r\n\r\nAssists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.\r\nPresides over the accounting team’s daily functions which includes the general ledger. \r\nCollaborates with various departments to support financial efforts and objectives. \r\nOversees the documentation and dissemination of accounting policies and procedures. \r\nEnsures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements with ASC842. \r\nImplements and maintains internal controls to safeguard Company assets and ensures accurate financial reporting. \r\nSupervises, trains, and develops the accounting team(s), fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. \r\nAids in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. \r\nSupports the annual audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and acts as the liaison with internal and external auditors. \r\nFacilitates account reconciliations and investigations as needed. \r\nPartners and supports the Controller with tax compliance and coordinates with external tax advisors. \r\nManages the month-end and year-end close processes. \r\nParticipates in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures. \r\nAnalyzes complex financial data and provides recommendation for improvement. \r\nProvides support to the Controller and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). \r\nPerforms other duties as assigned.   \r\n\r\n

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

\r\n\r\nExcellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross functionally and build working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.\r\nDemonstrates strong negotiation and leadership skills with the ability to effectively guide and motivate team members. \r\nThorough understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, and financial reporting standards. \r\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\r\nPossess exceptional time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing workloads, and meeting deadlines. \r\nContinuous improvement mindset with a passion for automating/standardizing processes.\r\nDetail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting.\r\nCommitted to high ethical standards and integrity in managing confidential and financial information.\r\nProficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.) and accounting software such as SAP or other ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems. \r\n\r\n

Education & Experience:

\r\n\r\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.\r\nMaster’s degree in Accounting or Finance is highly preferred.\r\n5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. \r\nCertified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required.\r\nPublic Accounting experience is highly desired. \r\nPrior work experience in industries such as Manufacturing, Food Manufacturing, or Retail is preferred.\r\n\r\n

Working Conditions:   

\r\n\r\nWork is performed in an office environment with telephones, personal computers, and printers.\r\nThe noise level of the environment is usually moderate.\r\nSedentary position with seldom to occasional lifting of less than 50 pounds.\r\nMay require standing less than or equal to 1/3 of the day.\r\nWillingness and ability to travel up to 15% of the time. \r\n\r\n
