SUMMARY: \n

Champion Homes is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of our retail division. This role will assist in managing accounting processes, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance while contributing to process improvements, special projects, and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has a strong background in retail financial management, inventory accounting, and multi-location operations.\n

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
\n

Financial Reporting & Analysis\n\nPrepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.\nAssist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to support strategic decision-making.\nMonitor key financial metrics, including sales performance, inventory costs, and profit margins across multiple retail locations.\n\n

Accounting Operations\n\nOversee general ledger activities, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close processes.\nManage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing for retail operations.\nWork closely with retail sales teams to ensure proper tracking of transactions, commissions, and financing.\nMaintain compliance with state and federal tax regulations, including sales tax reporting and multi-state retail tax compliance.\n\n

Internal Controls & Compliance\n\nImplement and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.\nAssist in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and supporting inquiries.\nIdentify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and operations.\n\n

Retail Inventory & Cost Management\n\nOversee inventory accounting, ensuring accurate valuation and reconciliation of manufactured home stock.\nWork with retail managers to track cost of goods sold (COGS) and optimize pricing strategies.\nAssist in developing inventory control policies to minimize loss and improve operational efficiency.\n\n

Team Leadership & Collaboration\n\nProvide training, guidance, and mentorship to accounting staff, fostering professional growth and best practices.\nCollaborate with retail location managers, sales teams, and finance leadership to align financial processes with business goals.\nSupport technology enhancements, including ERP or financial system upgrades, to improve financial visibility and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS \n\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (CPA or CMA preferred).\n5 years of progressive accounting\/finance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.\nStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and retail accounting best practices.\nExperience with multi-location retail accounting, including inventory management, cost analysis, and commission tracking.\nProficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle, or an industry-specific ERP system).\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.\nSQL Query design experience a strong plus.\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\nStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nEffective communication and leadership abilities to work cross-functionally with finance, sales, and retail teams.\n\n

Preferred Qualifications \n\nExperience in the manufactured housing, homebuilding, or retail finance industry preferred.\nKnowledge of sales tax compliance, multi-state retail accounting, and financing processes.\nFamiliarity with floor plan financing and dealership operations.
