\n\nPurpose of Position\n\n

Assists in meal planning, coordination and preparation. Participates in activities of cooks, other kitchen personnel and servers engaged in preparing, cooking and serving foods at KWA meal sites. \n
\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\n\nPrepares meats, soups, sauces, vegetables, and other foods prior to cooking.\nCooks foodstuffs in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served.\nPortions cooked foods, or gives instructions to workers as to size of portions and methods of garnishing.\nServes meals, as necessary.\nWashes dishes, kitchen utensils and keeps kitchen clean.\nOrders supplies and keeps records and accounts as instructed by head cook.\nReceives and examines foodstuffs and supplies to ensure quality and quantity meet established standards and specifications.\nAttends staff meetings as directed.\nAttends training as directed.\nPerforms other duties as directed\n\n
\n\n Position Requirements, Competencies and Qualifications\n\n\nSatisfactorily pass criminal history & reference checks.\nMust have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.\nGood organizational skills.\nAbility to be flexible and perform work under time pressure.\n\n

3.1 Education\n\nHigh school diploma, GED or foreign equivalent preferred. \n\n
\n

3.2 Experience in Related Field\n\n6 months or more of food preparation and cooking.\n\n
\n

3.3 Unique Expertise\/Certification\/Registrations\n\nMust have or obtain food handlers card.\n\n
\n\nWorking Conditions\n\n\nAbility to work in a kitchen environment, which may include high temperatures and food allergens\nAbility to travel to different locations\nWork involves standing most of the time, but may involve walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and traveling\n\n
\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\n\nAbility to apply principles of logical thinking, to define problems\nAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagrammatic or schedule form\nAbility to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position\nClarity of vision at 20 inches or less, up to 20 feet or more\n\n
