Assistant Counsel - Legal, Compliance & Risk Team
What can you expect?
Provide comprehensive legal advice on a diverse range of corporate and commercial matters to support Marsh and Mercer businesses in the Middle East.
Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, including contracts, subcontracts, and vendor agreements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Stay abreast of new laws and regulations, analyzing their implications for the company and advising on necessary adjustments.
Identify potential legal risks and develop innovative strategies to manage and mitigate them effectively.
Collaborate with external legal counsel and engage in negotiations with external parties, escalating unresolved issues as necessary.
Offer practical guidance to colleagues, balancing legal considerations with business needs, and clarifying contract terms and legal issues.
Assist in preparing responses to RFP proposals for potential clients, ensuring compliance and competitiveness.
Proactively manage workflow to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

We will count on you to:
Deliver timely and effective legal support to various business units, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to inform decision-making and risk management strategies.
Mentor and guide junior legal staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
Maintain accurate records of legal documents and correspondence, ensuring easy access and retrieval.
What you need to have:
A minimum of 2-5 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department.
Proven proficiency in reviewing and negotiating contracts, with a strong understanding of contractual risk.
Some exposure to dispute resolution and negotiations, demonstrating a practical approach to legal challenges.
A recognized qualification and a valid license to practice law in Jordan or a common law jurisdiction, along with a university degree.
Proficiency in English and Arabic writing.
