**Job Summary:**
Direct the activities in the John Sealy School of Medicine Office of Student Affairs and Admissions as they relate to student admissions and recruiting. The Assistant Dean for Admissions and Recruitment will provide leadership and oversight to student admissions and recruitment as well as direct the operational aspects of the admissions activities for medical (MD) students and recruitment activities for both medical students and physician assistant studies (PAS) students for the Office of Student Affairs and Admissions (OSAA) in the John Sealy School of Medicine. These activities include the recruiting and matriculation of diverse and outstanding students, providing academic support, and counseling, and providing appropriate student services.
**Scope:**
John Sealy John Sealy School of Medicine MD Program (admissions and recruitment) and PA Program (recruitment).
**Job Duties:**
Provide leadership and vision for the activities in the John Sealy School of Medicine Office of Student Affairs and Admissions as they relate to student admissions and recruiting.
+ Oversight of the admission and recruiting programs of the John Sealy School of Medicine, under the guidance of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions.
+ Represent the admissions and recruitment program to stakeholders both on and off the UTMB campus including but not limited to the operations committee, the deans, the JAMP council, the TMDSAS, and the alumni.
+ Oversee and provide guidance and training to the JSSOM MD Program Admissions Committee for application review and ranking.
+ Serve as a liaison to University Student Services, including Enrollment Services, Student Health and Student Life.
+ Oversee the organization and activities related to:
+ Applicant counseling, screening and recruiting.
+ Pre-med pathway programs.
+ The admissions process and policy.
+ New student Orientation and the White Coat Ceremony.
+ Selection of applicants for and awarding of recruitment scholarships.
+ Oversee tracking of, and recruitment to JSSOM dual degree programs.
+ Advise Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions on matters related to student recruiting and admissions.
+ Collaborate and share duties with other Assistant Dean(s) as they relate to curriculum, student support, scholarships, and discipline.
+ Supervise, develop, and evaluate professional and support staff related to Admissions and Recruitment.
+ Participate, with the office of Academic Support and Career counseling, in the tracking and assessment of admitted students .
+ Respond to requests from campus and outside organizations regarding admissions numbers, facts and figures.
+ Prepare for and facilitate the annual admissions committee retreat.
+ Oversee innovation in the admissions program.
+ Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure.
+ Performs related duties as assigned.
