As part of the larger People and Culture team, ARD Human Resources supports the employee lifecycle and serves as a strategic and supportive partner in cultivating a dynamic, effective and engaged team of Development staff committed to advancing the University’s mission. Job Summary
Responsibilities
Manages administrative logistics and documentation for Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) on- and off-boarding processes.Supports Workday usage for recruiting, time and absence, performance management, reporting, etc. as needed.Resolves issues related to accruals, time approver assignments, organizational structures, employee information and documents, etc. via Workday.Trains and supports managers and staff in using Workday.Partners with internal ARD teams to assist with additional onboarding support as needed.Works closely with Financial Operations to support the human resources team with aligning and resolving payment and budget-related issues.Uses Workday, Excel, PowerPoint, and other technology tools available in ARD to synthesize data to create and design reports and charts.Reviews application materials and evaluates valid candidacy by ensuring applicants meet role requirements.Serves as operations liaison to broader UChicago campus partners, such as Shared Services, IT, Workday Solutions, Talent Acquisition, etc.Responds to unforeseen and complex problems, makes recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness, and implements changes as needed.Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting comply.Ensures accuracy and confidentiality of all data and records, and performs duties in accordance with federal and state laws, University human resource policies and ARD procedures.Participates in the review and determination of best practices in facilitating goals and activities for supporting ARD staff. Contributes ideas in strategic planning sessions.Maintains and contributes to the development of procedures and protocol for human resources to maintain a high level of professionalism in all activities.Partners with the People and Culture team as needed regarding staffing updates and ad hoc assignments.Orders departmental supplies as needed.Seeks opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance including attending webinars, seminars, building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.Supports staff hiring processes, including developing job descriptions, interviewing and reference checking, handling employment offers, and conducting orientation. Drafts templates and routine offer letters. Maintains appropriate human resources data and records, solving a range of straightforward problems using standard procedures.Counsels employees on benefits and compensation. Coordinates with managers and senior colleagues to determine employee compensation. Analyzes data and prepares charts, graphs, and trend lines for management review with a moderate level of guidance.Performs other related work as needed.

Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including the University's donor relationship management system and the Microsoft Office Suite.Proficient in with Workday.Preferred Competencies
