Assistant Director, C21 Catholic Children's Ministry
Boston College
**Boston College Introduction**
Founded in 1863, Boston College is a Jesuit, Catholic university located six miles from downtown Boston with an enrollment of 9,484 full-time undergraduates and 5,250 graduate and professional students. Ranked 35 among national universities, Boston College has 888 full-time and 1,281 FTE faculty, 2,711 non-faculty employees, an operating budget of $1.4 billion, and an endowment in excess of $3.5 billion.
**Job Description**
The Assistant Director will assist in leading the C21 Center’s new Catholic Children’s Ministry Partnership initiative to strengthen and nurture children's worship practices and help children find God in their everyday lives. Working closely under the guidance of the director of the C21 Center, the position requires the building of a sustainable coalition of one hundred Catholic parishes in the New England area to access a repository of C21’s one-of-a-kind children’s ministry resources. A Council of parish representatives will be established (one per parish) to help anchor and exclusively share this one-of-a-kind repository of formational faith programs and event opportunities. In addition to nurturing this community, the Assistant Director will also be responsible for marketing and distribution of these resources. The CCMP resources include the Breakfast with God Worship Programming/Episodes, Drawing God Program, Growing God Care for Creation Project, and The Misfit Sock Advent Prayer Tradition. The already established programs are wrapped in a curriculum that uses the arts (e.g., music, art, singing, planting, baking, and storytelling) as a catalyst to enhance a child’s worship practices and are fully inclusive to all children. Through creatively curated video programming, children’s books, fun activities and experiences, downloadable companion/curriculum guides, and how-to training videos, catechists and parents can bring these resources to life for the children and profoundly impact how they experience God’s love through worship.
As the coalition grows, the position’s responsibilities will grow, too, and relationship-building will become a larger component of the Assistant Director’s time and effort, working directly with pastoral leaders and parish families to bring these faith resources to children. Additionally, the CCMP models the C21 Center's ongoing mission to establish effective and necessary partnerships
between an institution of Catholic higher education, Catholic parishes, and families.
Eventually, the C21 Center will plan and execute a two-day Nurturing Children Through Worship and Prayer conference at Boston College for parishes in the CCMP. Several years later, the goal is to expand the initiative's reach to parishes and families nationally, helping more children come to know God and grow in faith.
