Miami Athletics is seeking a dynamic, energetic and creative visual storyteller to help create video content for one of the most iconic brands in collegiate athletics, with a special emphasis on UM’s football program. This position will be one of the department’s chief videographers -- engaging, exciting, and inspiring our fan base to consume and share a steady diet of compelling content across various platforms, from staged video shoots, live game action, and features to highlights, sizzle reels, and commercial spots.
The Assistant Director of Creative Video will also work closely with members of the communications, digital, and video staffs to help drive the creative vision for the athletic department and ensure that vision aligns with the department’s ongoing brand strategy.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Help generate original creative that tells a story, showcasing the student- athlete experience and engaging all of UM’s target audiences.
· Engage in the video production process from ideation to execution to distribution, and every step in between.
· Create content for multiple platforms, from short-form daily social media content to long-form feature content for website and broadcast projects.
· Serve as the primary football videographer, covering practices, home games, road games, community events and special events.
· Assist in building and developing the student program for video content.
· Assist in capturing and creating content for football recruiting efforts.
· Responsible for maintaining compliance with NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference, institutional and departmental rules.
· All other duties as assigned by the Football Creative Director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Strong attention to detail
· Ability to work under time constraints and meet assigned deadlines
· Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from other team members
· Expertise editing video with Adobe Premiere or similar non-linear editing software; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud products including Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects are a big plus Experience with production workflow systems
· Expertise or certification in sound design, cinematography, and other film-specific skillsets are a plus
· Ability to work nights and weekends and travel with certain teams
Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
· Bachelor’s degree required.
Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):
· 2-3 years of escalating shooting and editing experience with a collegiate athletic department, sports team, agency, or consumer brand.
· Online portfolio/reel that demonstrates expertise in shooting and editing.
