Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Development is a fundraising support position responsible for oversight of the daily operations for the Green Wave Club development office. This position oversees all development-related database management, gift receipting procedures, and athletics development gift processing. The position serves as a liaison to the Office of Advancement’s Gift Accounting team, Tulane Ticket Office, and ticketing software provider to ensure best-in-class fundraising operations.
The Assistant Director plays a key role in identifying prospective donors and nurturing donor relationships. They solicit donations from current and prospective donors to Tulane Athletics. This position assists in stewarding both annual and leadership giving donors while working closely with campus development and athletic leadership. Additionally, the Assistant Director will be an integral part of implementing strategies to enhance departmental revenue generation and ensuring the financial sustainability of our programs through strategic fundraising efforts.
Essential Functions of the Job:
1. Function: Daily Operations of the Athletics Development Office - Maintain daily internal operations and project management at the assignment of the Assistant Athletic Director of Development; assist in managing all aspects of the Green Wave Club athletics development operation, including processing incoming gifts and managing development databases; maintain daily record of incoming donations, ensuring that all relevant data sources contain complete records of all Tulane Athletics donation transactions; serve as liaison with ticketing software provider to ensure all online donation pages are functional, up-to-date, and easy to navigate; serve as liaison with Athletics Business Office on donation-related inquiries, including troubleshooting account or donor-specific issues; interact with donors to address account-specific questions and in various roles on gamedays and at athletics events; and assist Assistant Athletic Director of Annual Giving with operating and engagement of the Tulane Letterwinners Association. (55%)
2. Function: Athletics Fundraising - Identify, cultivate, and solicit annual fund and major gift donations from current and prospective donors to Tulane Athletics; manage a portfolio of annual giving prospects and donors to maximize giving to Tulane Athletics; personally visit donors as directed or as appropriate, with occasional travel as necessary; and assist in athletic annual giving campaigns, including fundraising, reporting, and communication strategies to execute fundraising goals. (40%)

Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 1 year of direct fundraising or transferable experience (marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, volunteer management, or sales experience)
OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 7 years of directly related experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies:
• Experience writing and preparing fundraising solicitations and gift proposals
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication, public speaking and presentation skills
• Excellent organizational skills, to include the ability to prioritize projects and meet established deadlines
• Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary in the performance of assigned duties is required
• Must have the ability to demonstrate uncompromised judgment and discretion with regard to interpersonal relationships both internally and externally
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality and use upmost discretion when privy to sensitive information
• Must have truly outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student athletes, perspective donors, external constituencies, and vendors
• Proven ability to multi-task effectively
• Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and other software necessary to the development operation
• Travel with sport teams for away contests
• Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American Athletic Conference rules and regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
• College athletics fundraising experience
• Working knowledge of Advance and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
NCAA Related:
Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
