Occupational Summary
The Assistant Director for Education and outreach will provide coordination, development support, and content expertise for OIE focal areas for educational engagements across Duke University and Health System. They will assist the Director and AVP in providing training and learning experiences in a wide and deep variety of topics related to cross-cultural competency and equity development. They will assist the education team in strategic planning for enterprise-wide training and education planning. They will also provide specified support for leadership across the institution in engaging their departments in equity and inclusion education and development. The AD will provide specified support, in collaboration with the Director and AVP, for managers and supervisors in strategic interventions when needed and will contribute to cultivating cross-enterprise relationships related to education and training. The individual will develop resources and design topical elements to support units in their equity work. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director and AVP to create synergy between the compliance and education work of OIE. They will also oversee support for evaluation of the strategic direction of educational efforts. The Assistant Director will compile reports and processing documents regarding educational engagements and alternative resolution strategies. In addition, this individual will deliver educational content with key constituencies and contribute content expertise. They will contribute strategic thinking, project planning, and discrete efforts across all Educational Team efforts.
Position responsibilities
EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT (60%) Support development of educational engagement content across all OIE content areas. Build and manage long-term relationships with assigned partners across the Duke enterprise, Manage discrete projects aligned with overall educational engagement strategy and evaluation plan. Contribute to successful execution of OIE’s Foundational Education Series and Topic Specific Series. Assist in organization of enterprise-wide educational engagement for faculty, staff and students Work closely with the Director and Assistant Vice President in development of a deep and wide variety of educational opportunities. Deliver specified educational opportunities. Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications in the development of educational resources, databases, and glossaries. Work closely with the Program Director for Special Events to support educational content throughout all high-impact meetings and signature events Work closely with the Senior Program Coordinator to implement educational engagement events focused on racial equity and anti-racism education
EVALUATION AND CROSS-OFFICE SYNERGY SUPPORT (20%) Compile and organize information throughout year that populates EOY report and evaluation analysis. Maintain working knowledge of University policy and procedures related to discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct Work with the Intake Managers to develop communications and templates around alternative resolution processes Support compliance and education team in development of policy and practices related to cross-training Continuously research and suggest new directions for educational resources and content development. Lead coordination of educational team evaluation plan and implementation. Support analysis process around evaluation activities in support of report development. Create templates for reports and resources related to all OIE educational engagements. Work with the Director for Marketing and Communications to review web and social media analytics to make recommendations for future educational opportunities. Collaborate with the Director and AVP on educational evaluation needs and planning for educational development resources as needed.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT (20%) Plan and lead meetings, working sessions, timelines, budgets in collaboration with Director and education team. Prioritize work, meet deadlines, and actively communicate progress and deliverables with the Director and Assistant Vice President. Coordinate processes around resource development and content planning including specific content implementation materials (power point, Canva presentations, polling, graphics development and any social media needs). Work with OIE partners to facilitate discussion, gain consensus, approvals, and manage expectations in difficult or ambiguous situations. Maintain organized records and files including work product, timelines, plans, etc. Ensure that projects that fall under the position’s oversight are compliant with departmental and university equity policies and practices. Establish relationships with and work with vendors as needed for content and resource development and implementation. Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications Work requires a minimum of 3 years of experience with progressive responsibility related to equity and inclusion education, planning, and intervention. Experience with restorative justice, harm transformation, and coaching approaches Minimum 2 years experience with program and outcome assessment and evaluation. Progressively responsible advocacy and assessment of educational efforts preferred. Significant knowledge and experience serving and supporting minority interests. Demonstrated ability and/or experience in many of the following areas required: crosscultural education, organizational change frameworks and planning, adult-learning frameworks and development, curriculum design, graphic design, presentation development, resource development, staff professional development. Experience and comfort managing design, video, and other multimedia production projects. Knowledge of educational engagement, higher education issues, research universities, and Duke University preferred. Content expertise in areas related to racial equity preferred.

Education
An advanced degree is required(i.e., MBA, MPP, MSW, MPA etc.).
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience with progressive responsibility in faculty development and/or diversity work in academia, not for profit, or business. Development of faculty or staff programs strongly preferred.
