Appointment Type Full Time Regular Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt General Function The Assistant Director, Mary Jean Price Walls Student Resource Center supports the Director in creating a welcoming campus and developing retention strategies for students. The Assistant Director assesses student needs and develops programs and services.#LI-CP1 Description of Primary Duties The Assistant Director, Mary Jean Price Walls Student Resource Center supports the Director in creating a welcoming campus and developing retention strategies for students. The Assistant Director assesses student needs and develops programs and services. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of years of experience and education may be considered for substitution of educational requirements.
Experience: Two years of professional experience in which the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities in ethnic studies, cultural studies, student affairs, or educational leadership were gained is required. Experience in program development and implementation is required. Experience with student development and supervision is required. Experience working in a higher education setting is preferred. Experience with fiscal management and human resources practices is preferred.
Skills: Demonstrated effectiveness working with students and colleagues as an educator, advisor, leader, and role model is required. A demonstrated success in enhancing cultural competence is preferred. Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are required. Public presentation skills and the ability to build collaborative partnerships with many different stakeholders are required. The ability to conceptualize, plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs appropriate for a higher education community is required. The ability to maintain timely and effective communication through email, social media, and telephone in a professional manner is required.
Other: Some travel and evening and weekend work is required.
