This role plays a critical part in expanding access and strengthening representation within the MBA applicant pool. The MBA Admissions Marketing team oversees the prospective applicant and admitted student journey, supporting Harvard Business School’s mission to educate leaders who make a difference in the world. The Assistant Director will focus on outreach and marketing initiatives to encourage prospective students to apply to HBS. In addition to these marketing responsibilities, they will serve on the MBA Admissions evaluation board, reviewing applications and interviewing candidates. We seek a candidate with strong judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex issues, contributing to an engaged and high-performing team. Outreach Planning and Strategy + Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, Outreach, develop and implement a strategic outreach plan to increase awareness and attract prospective applicants. This includes a particular focus on individuals from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in business. + Maintain oversight of assigned prospect pool data, trends, and conversion through the marketing funnel + Plan and execute outreach events for prospective applicants + Attend conferences/seminars to conduct MBA Admissions presentations + Plan on and off-campus events + In coordination with the Pipeline Programs team, lead outreach at a portfolio of college campuses + Oversee student and alumni relationships + Build and manage relationships with leaders and individual members of HBS student associations that can support outreach efforts + Build and manage relationships with associated alumni groups + Identify and engage with community-based organizations aligned with focus on building a robust prospect pool of candidates + Collaborate closely with the Pipeline Programs team on college outreach strategies + Partner with Admissions Digital Marketing to ensure a broad range of perspectives are represented in the external content including social media, blogs, emails, and website Candidate Evaluation + Develop into a full Admissions Board Member; training and onboarding to take place over several Evaluation cycles + Serve as member of the MBA Interview Board for MBA and 2+2 + Participate in evaluation of applicants for SVMP Team + Manage a full-time team member + Support team-wide events such as outreach and yield events, conferences, and other activities as required + Work closely with Marketing team members responsible for other outreach segments + Contribute to collaborative culture with willingness to both teach and learn from colleagues Other + Represent MBA Admissions at a variety of on and off-campus events, domestically and potentially internationally + Responsible for other duties as assigned Commitment to Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging:Harvard University views equity, inclusion, and belonging as the pathway to achieving inclusive excellence and fostering a campus culture where everyone can thrive.
