Job Summary
Responsibilities
Program Administration: Lead the administration and coordination of programs and services for justice-impacted veterans within the Veterans Restorative Justice Project, attend all veteran court calls with the Circuit Court of Cook County, serve as the liaison between the University and court partners, assist in selecting UChicago students who participate with the Veterans Restorative Justice Project, assist with outreach and engagement efforts of justice-impacted veterans, implement and sustain a peer-mentor program for justice-involved veterans, and work with the Director for the Office of Military-Affiliated Communities (OMAC) to evaluate and sustain the Veterans Restorative Justice Project.
Communication Strategy: Create and implement a comprehensive communications plan on justice-impacted veterans connected with the University and Veterans Restorative Justice Project. Oversee website updates, listservs, and social media strategies, and work with the University communications office to raise the visibility of the Veterans Restorative Justice Project related initiatives and highlight the prominence of University efforts.
Community Engagement and Outreach: Cultivate and steward external community and corporate partnerships to support the military-affiliated community, coordinate and conduct trainings for internal campus partners on supporting the military-affiliated community and providing updates and communications on relevant regulatory updates.
Fundraising and grants: The Associate Director will work with Alumni Relations & Development (ARD), private foundations, and donors to facilitate fund raising activities and steward donor funds to maintain and enhance the efforts and resources for the University’s military affiliated communities and will research and implement grant opportunities.
Assessment: Maintain reporting and tracking data, conduct regular assessments of program activities and initiatives, prepare reports as requested on the status of initiatives.
Equal Opportunity Programs Projects: Lead and manage special projects related to the work of Equal Opportunity Programs.
Coordinates events, researches logistics, assists with planning and preparing presentations, event outreach, and post-event write ups.
Assists with researching funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and drafting and/or editing other written materials with moderate guidance.
Assists with other administrative projects as needed and acquire higher level guidance and skills.
Performs other related work as needed.

Advanced degree strongly preferred.
Experience:
2 or more years of experience in higher education strongly preferred.
Experience working with military-affiliated students.
Knowledge and experience working with justice-impacted veterans and/or experience of working with underserved populations within the criminal justice system.
Preferred Competencies
Ability to work on multiple projects and cases simultaneously in an intense and fast-paced environment, set priorities and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of relevant Veteran Affairs (VA) regulations in a higher education setting and policies impacting justice-involved veterans.
Ability to coordinate and work successfully and collaboratively with others.
Ability to effectively communicate and work consultatively with academics and staff at all levels within the University and court partners.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
