Assistant Director, Operations

Summary:

The Assistant Director will provide leadership and have overall responsibility and accountability for providing strategic, operational direction and oversight for the Bon Secours Charity Health System Medical Group offices in Rockland/Orange Counties. The individual will work collegially and collaboratively with the Director of Operations, Senior Executives, Physicians and Office leaders to achieve system goals. In this role, the incumbent will lead a major strategic initiative focused on greatly expanding the employed physician network, in accordance with the strategic plan, and in a manner that demonstrates business team building and effective administration of physician practices, making Bon Secours the preferred partner for physicians in the area. In addition, this individual will be responsible for managing all relationships with employed and contractual physicians and all managers within the area.

Responsibilities:

Works with Director of Operations to standardize policies and practices across Physician Practice continuum as appropriate; articulates the Physician Practice program, philosophy, standards, and objectives in accordance with the overall system initiatives for strategic growth; assesses, evaluates, and develops services to fulfill the needs of the community as requested by organizational customers or individuals.Functions as a role model and supervisor for Physician Practice Administrator, Managers or Coordinators. Ensures the coordination of a progressive office growth, education set up, compliance and Cerner training for Offices and StaffDemonstrates effective problem identification/solving skills in the overall development and administration of services. Assist in directing staff to meet clinical quality standards; delegates responsibilities to appropriate supervisory personnel to ensure adequate professional and administrative direction and supervision of services.Identifies and researches technology resources with VP and Director of Operations to enable growth and clinical excellence in Physician Practices.Responds to staffing, materials, and technology needs for patient care delivery to meet volume goals and patient outcomes.Capable and skilled at bringing about quality, cost-sensitive, and patient-centered care delivery to the group. Help strategic planning in reaching achievement in organization for quality improvement initiatives.Assist in oversight all employed physician practices and orchestrates physician relationships to help the practices in achieving quality and clinical outcomes that meet MSSP and all the other Quality Incentive Programs for the group. Participates in implementation of services as appropriate for local market, e.g., developing management service offerings for non-employed physicians to include managed care contract review, HIPPA compliance support, practice web site development, information technology support, and practice management capabilities (group purchasing, coding/billing services, recruitment assistance and sharing of performance measures).Take a leading role with the support and implementation of Cerner applications; utilizes information management systems to assess volumes and expenditures. Encourages leadership to maximize the use of software systems and to utilize information management reports for the overall management of each practice.Involved in the strategy, planning, and implementation of outreach in Rockland County, Orange County and Pennsylvania Recruitment, Development and RetentionDevelops recruitment strategies with Director of Operations and Physician Practice Managers to ensure staffing levels appropriate for volume needs. Ensures hiring of qualified employees; ensures labor laws and regulations are met in hiring and counseling of staff; reviews and responds to turnover and retention rates.Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the medical field and practice management by attending seminars/workshops, actively participating in all Bon Secours Medical Group Meetings that are scheduled for the Medical Group. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices of all offices within the medical group.Determine and implement the appropriate infrastructure required to successfully support the Director of Operations for the medical group, including consideration for the Business Office, Human Resources, and Information Technology functions.Help Director of Operations raise the level of awareness and help the physician offices and hospitals within BSHSI to keep patient referrals within the system.Participate and aid in the continuing Cerner Physician practice roll-out, for new offices and upgrades. Help Director of Operations effectively transition and orient recruited staff to the medical group. Participate in the integration process for all acquired practices.Guide and actively participate in with Patient Centered Medical Home team ambitions. Observe and lend a hand to PCMH team to be sure the offices keep current workflows.Promote a medical group culture that fosters a high-quality patient-centered focus that establishes the medical group as the regional provider of choice.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in a medical group setting required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Equivalent combination of experience and education maybe substituted for degree requirement.

Other: Travel to Medical practices within Orange and Rockland counties as needed
