Assistant Director, Project Management – Asset Management Programs

JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Director will be a member of the Executive Leadership team within the Asset Management Programs (AMP) department. Responsible for directing and managing all aspects of the Universal Orlando Resort’s (UOR) AMP activities (the “Project”) for all UOR department construction projects including all planning, budgeting, scheduling, estimating, design, construction, fabrication, delivery, and commissioning required to complete the projects within the assigned budget, quality, schedule, creative and guest experience requirements. Organize and establish effective Project management; take ownership of the project process and be able to identify and mitigate project risks and challenges; coordinate and manage design decisions and construction document production; avoid contract claims and disputes; minimize change orders during construction phases; effectively manage changes in the Project; establish good communications with customers and clients; eliminate interface disruptions between project participants; maintain, and where possible improve, the Project schedule and budget; ensure quality design and construction work; emphasize “hands-on” management of field operations; establish, maintain, and continually develop a competent and experienced staff. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: + Construction/Fabrication/Implementation - responsible for the qualification, procurement, selection, contracting and performance of all Contractors, Vendors, Manufacturers, Fabricators, etc. required to complete the broad portfolio of Projects (multiple projects with large budgets). Ensure that all project procedures are being followed as it relates to Correspondence, Request for Information (RFI), Directives, Shop Drawings, Submittals, Meeting Minutes, Punch Lists, Deficiency Lists, Notices, Pay Applications, etc. necessary to successfully implement the various AMP Projects. + Project Reporting/Budget/Scheduling - Responsible for maintaining the overall project budget and schedule within the targeted objectives set forth during project approval. Forecast, communication, and proactively resolve asset, scheduling, and budget issues in a transparent manner. Responsible for the management, tracking, and reporting of all the necessary project KPIs and progress of the project to upper management. Develop and implement a system to regularly report to clients, peers, and executive management to ensure all important status and update information communicated as required to provide excellent customer service. + Personnel Management - Responsible for the hiring and training of the necessary project team required to implement the project. Responsible for the performance of each of the project team individuals as it relates to the successful completion of all projects. Responsible for the development and growth of the project team in an inclusive environment through coaching, continuous learning, technology, and support of local initiatives and strategies. + Planning – Contribution to the UOR Technical Services Long Range Capital plan. Work closely with Capital Finance and Technical Services department heads to build the long-range plan including, specifications, scope of work, estimates, and schedules. + Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities. + Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: + Bachelor’s degree is required in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related field. + Master’s degree is preferred in Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or a related field. EXPERIENCE: + 9+ years of progressive construction leadership experience in the development and management of major projects, including 4+ years with a major hospitality/entertainment/theme park brand + Or equivalent combination of education and experience. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: + Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. + Demonstrated experience creating, negotiating, and managing construction and manufacturing contracts + Proven blend of business acumen, independent judgement, strategic vision, technical expertise, and hands-on leadership + Proven ability to inspire, motivate, and lead a team to develop creative and efficient solutions throughout the project lifecycle + Proactive communicator who can interface effectively at all levels of leadership and can appropriately influence business results through negotiation, influence, and personal presence + Proven track record of driving efficiency and effectiveness in large teams through established and creative metrics and collaboration + Demonstrated compassion and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including inviting diverse perspectives, fostering an inclusive work environment, and supporting workforce diversity Your talent, skills and experience will be rewarded with a competitive compensation package.
