The Prospect Management & Research team melds the art and science of major gift qualification by leveraging the skillsets and experience of both frontline and backline fundraisers. The Prospect Management & Research team creates and sustains systematic, division-wide, data-driven approaches to pipeline development, addressing prospect identification, qualification, and management. Via these approaches, the team vastly expands the pool of prospective major gift donors and radically expedites the timeline from identification to solicitation. The unit of Prospect Management & Research is seeking a successful and energetic, individual who has a proven track record with a collaborative approach and willingness to join our vision to build one of the nation’s premier fundraising teams that will engage philanthropists to support the mission of the University. The ideal candidate will be a consummate professional and will thrive in a fast-paced campaign, metrics/results-driven fundraising environment. The candidate will have strong work ethic and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, faculty, and community partners. Position Summary The Assistant Director is a full time administrative/professional position within the Prospect Management & Research team within the division of University Advancement. The primary function of this position is to provide fundraising support to development officers and other University Advancement Division and campus partners. This position reports to the Director of Prospect Management & Research and supports major gift development activity across all stages of the donor lifecycle from identification to stewardship. Other units the position works closely with include: college and unit development staff, Computing Systems, Constituent Gift Information, Talent & HR, Training and Support, Colorado State University Foundation, President’s Office, Alumni Relations and academic units within the University. Required Job Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by employment start date + Two years of professional experience in prospect development (including prospect management and/or research), or positions with transferrable skills including fundraising, or fundraising analytics. + Knowledge of fundraising practices and major gift solicitation processes + Demonstrates active engagement and support of diverse individuals, opinions and perspectives, and actively engages with and supports the University’s mission, vision and values. Preferred Job Qualifications + At least one year of experience in higher education fundraising environment + Experience with electronic CRMs, data sources and search tools such as SalesForce, Wealth Engine, and LexisNexis + Ability to interpret financial data and individual wealth indicators and identify philanthropic patterns and relationships among individuals, corporations, and foundations. + Goal-focused and customer-oriented work philosophy + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Essential Duties Job Duty CategoryProspect Management Duty/Responsibility + With the Director of Prospect Management & Research, determines strategic priorities that define and direct overall liaison support of development officers – maintaining a strong focus on proposal pipelines + Assists in guiding overall Prospect Management & Research liaison practice in a manner that encourages and supports successful fundraising activity by development officers. + Assists in developing regular agenda and meeting communication content for interaction between Prospect Management & Research liaisons and campus partners. + Serves as a prospect management liaison to specific fundraisers and units + Analyzes and distributes system-generated reports and dashboards to support pipeline and portfolio development. + Maintains up-to-date understanding of the quality of liaison assignments’ portfolio and pipeline content and potential ROI , and fundraising team and individual fundraisers progress to metric goals. + Facilitates Prospect Management & Research internal liaison team meetings; developing agendas and meeting materials + Ensures consistent outward communication, customer service, and approach across the Prospect Management & Research liaison team with fundraising teams and individual development officers. + Assists with developing mechanisms for acknowledging and celebrating fundraising team metric goal achievements throughout the year. + Acts as a CRM system “super user” developing and maintaining expert knowledge of database and related fundraising processes and procedures in order to advise development officers and other University Advancement staff. + Oversees creation and maintenance of up-to-date documentation of all liaison processes. + Collaborates with a variety of fundraising staff on projects and time-sensitive tasks. + Creates positive relationships and inclusive environments with development officers and campus partners of all backgrounds; consider the role of inclusion and how to mitigate bias in the pipeline and qualification process. Percentage Of Time75% Job Duty CategoryProspect Identification and Research Duty/Responsibility + Conducts research and analysis to identify potential major gift donors (ability to make a gift of $25,000+) and influence pipeline activities, in support of a variety of college, unit, or campus-wide fundraising initiatives. + Uses an extensive set of resources to provide highly customized proactive and reactive high-level background research, financial and demographic analysis and capacity evaluations to development fundraising professionals, executive leadership, and faculty. + Reviews, analyzes, and ensures the quality of data loaded into donor database systems. + Analyzes and synthesizes large volumes of information and complex financial, legal and technical language into easily comprehensible information. Adapts search strategies based on initial findings and knowledge of scope and validity of information sources; collaborates with the Director for guidance as needed. + Summarizes and incorporates findings into the donor database; creates accurate, concise content and materials used by fundraising development personnel, executive leadership, and faculty in support of in person meetings with prospective donors, strategy creation, solicitations, and special projects. + Develops actionable information on individuals and organizations that have the capacity and interest to support the university at a major gift ($25,000 and above) level. + Demonstrates commitment to cultural competency and inclusive excellence by developing successful relationships of partners and co-workers with various identities and backgrounds.
