Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Director for the Research Financial Services. The Assistant Director is responsible for strategic decisions to enhance the efficiency and compliance of the Rutgers research funding portfolio from external sponsors for staff supporting New Brunswick and RBHS central units and will oversee the financial administration of those grants and contracts received by Rutgers, including assisting in any external audits of such activity, for that segment of the university. This represents the largest portfolio of accountants and units.
Among the key duties of this position are the following: Works with the director to develop and maintain effective and efficient processes and systems to support sponsored projects’ financial administration. Works with IT experts for the Oracle application to support the specific requirement of research operations and regulations. Has signature authority for grants and contracts. Acts as authorized representative of Rutgers per policy for delegation of signature authority in the absence of the Director. Maintains a deep working knowledge of all reporting systems required by the RFS office and the customers across the University. Serves as the liaison between sponsored programs and the Office of the Controller and works collaboratively on the F and A proposal and the NSF HERD survey and has primary responsibility for grant accounting sections of the year-end financial statement. Embraces and balance the dual roles of compliance officer and customer service agent with an overall focus on high levels of customer service and department interaction. Establishes, evaluates and re-designs workflow and make decisions about process and process improvement for all of RFS. Additionally, the Assistant Director will be called upon to represent the director and RFS as needed.
