The Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University, State University of New York, seeks an Assistant Director to work with the Senior Director of the Watson College Industry Outreach Office. This position will work closely with the college's Dean's Office and other faculty and staff, developing initiatives in engineering professional development and workforce development.

The Watson Industrial Outreach Office, reporting to the Watson Dean's Office, is responsible for the Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR) program that aligns university faculty and students to help resolve the technical challenges of regional industry. The office is also responsible for developing and delivering professional development and workforce development programs for industry partners.
Job Description:
The assistant director will support the mission of the Watson College of Industrial Outreach Office at Binghamton University by developing strategy, coordinating programming, leading outreach initiatives, and working closely with the Senior Director on sustaining current and growing new programs and initiatives.
The primary responsibilities and duties of a successful candidate will include:
+ Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR): Responsible for working closely with Watson Outreach Office SPIR Coordinator, Senior Director, and Advisory Board to select company partners, projects, faculty, and students in support of the continued success of our SPIR program. Oversee programs to ensure job creation, budget adherence, and client satisfaction. Support the timely and accurate development of requisite SUNY and campus documentation and reports.
+ Professional Development: In collaboration with the Watson Dean's Office, faculty, and department chairpersons, leads the development of new not-for-credit courses that address key market-valued skills within the industry. Support the micro-credential development and approval process as required.
+ Workforce Development: Partner with industries to identify workforce development opportunities that involve the delivery of existing learning programs via the appropriate modes (in-person, online and/or blended learning). Identify skill gaps that align with the expertise of Watson College faculty and researchers. Facilitate the development and delivery of workforce programs that address critical skill gaps. Help identify and write workforce development grants that support the learning program development and delivery. Oversee the successful execution of grant awards.
+ Marketing and Communications: Works with the Watson College communications and marketing team to increase visibility and recognition of the Watson Outreach Office and programs across a variety of channels; including internal and external messaging, print, email, social and digital media.
Job Requirements:
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, business, or related field
+ Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in industry or closely working with industry
+ Experience in planning, executing and measuring the success of projects
+ Ability to build a strong relationship with industry partners
+ Budget planning and management experience
+ Must be able to work collaboratively and effectively with faculty, staff, alumni and students
+ Ability to work weekends and evening hours as required
+ Requirement to travel within the region, state, and country
Preferred:
+ Master's or PhD Degree
+ Learning development, delivery, and assessment experience
+ Learning Management System (LMS) expertise
+ Instructional Design experience
+ Workforce development experience
+ Grant writing experience
+ Prior experience in higher education
+ Strategic, creative, and analytical thinking skills; ability to create and implement a strategic plan
+ Have the ability to work independently and collaboratively
+ Commitment to contributing to an inclusive environment
+ Direct student and graduate assistants to support the Watson Outreach Office's mission
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills
