Applications may be rejected if incomplete.* Minimum Qualifications The Assistant Director of Residential Life is a crucial role in creating a positive and supportive living environment for students on campus. This position is responsible for overseeing various aspects of residential life, including housing operations, student conduct, community development, residential curriculum and staff management. The Assistant Director of Residential Life and Housing plays a vital role in the success of the university's residential life program. By providing strong leadership, fostering a positive community, and ensuring the safety and well-being of students, this position contributes significantly to the overall student experience. This is a live on position. Primary Responsibilities: + Oversee the day-to-day operations of residential life staff, including Resident Assistants and other personnel. + Assist the Director in managing the day-to-day operations of residence halls, including room assignments, maintenance, and safety inspections. + Develop and implement educational, social, and cultural programs that enhance the student experience and contribute to their overall development. (Curriculum) + Foster a positive and inclusive living environment that supports students' academic success, personal growth, and well-being. + Respond to and manage emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of students. + Collaborate with other campus departments and organizations to promote a strong sense of community and belonging. + Lead or assist with special projects related to housing, residential life, or student affairs. + Assist in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures related to housing, conduct, and student life. + Advise the Hall council board Required Qualifications, Skills, and Characteristics Education: + Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution + Preferred: Master’s degree in student personnel administration, higher education administration, business administration or related field Experience: + Required: Minium of three (3) years of professional experience working in housing. + Preferred: Supervisory and housing management experience. Demonstrated Knowledge of professional standards in housing and higher education. Experience in residential curriculum, and intentional programing. Experience in training professional and paraprofessionals. Proven effectiveness in planning, organizing, implementing, and assessing needs of students. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Strong Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and parents, both verbally and in writing. + Conflict Resolution: Skill in resolving conflicts and mediating disputes among residents. + Supervisory Skills: Experience in supervising professional staff, including Resident Assistants (RAs). + Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. + Decision-Making: The ability to make sound decisions under pressure. + Initiative: Taking initiative to identify and address issues proactively. + Program Development: The ability to create and implement engaging programs and activities that foster community and learning. + Crisis Management: The ability to respond effectively to crises and emergencies. + Cultural Competence: Understanding and respecting diverse cultures and backgrounds. + Flexibility: Adaptability to change circumstances and unexpected situations. + Positive Attitude: A positive and enthusiastic approach to work.
