Requirements
The Undergraduate Program Office staff supports the Dean of the McDonough School of Business in carrying out their responsibility for the general effectiveness of the instructional programs of the School, as well as in carrying out academic policies and regulations. The office collectively advises 1350+ undergraduates pursuing 6 different majors and a variety of minors, fellowships, and joint programs in the bachelor of science degree portfolio.
The Assistant Director for Student Engagement and Strategic Initiatives reports to the Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Program Development. This position manages critical undergraduate operational areas, including student employment, communications, institutional initiatives, assessment, and strategic program support. This position oversees student and family engagement efforts, data systems management, and special projects to ensure excellence in undergraduate program delivery. The role requires a strong understanding of the McDonough School of Business undergraduate curriculum, student services, and effective collaboration with institutional stakeholders. The Associate Director plays a pivotal role in enhancing the student experience and driving strategic initiatives to achieve institutional goals. Duties Include but are not limited to:
Support and promote student-led research initiatives, including the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF), McDonough Opportunities for Research Experience (MORE), and the Senior Thesis Program.
Develop and implement new initiatives to enhance student engagement before and after their time at Hilltop.
Support the implementation of new programs to enhance the student experience.
Manage student communications lists, coordinate academic ceremonies, and ensure students meet graduation requirements, liaising with the Office of the University Registrar on diploma specifications.
Oversee the undergraduate program front desk operations, supervising student staff to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
Assist with the operational needs of the office, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and promptly addressing any issues that arise.
Work Interactions
This position works closely with the Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and interacts frequently with approximately 10 other Assistant, Associate, and Vice Deans, the Dean’s Office administrative staff, McDonough School Area Coordinators, the Office of the University Registrar, and University Information Services.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
3-5 years of work experience in a complex office environment, preferably in an academic administrative office
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet time-sensitive deadlines, and set priorities
Strong orientation to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work
High aptitude for analytical thought and problem-solving
Ability to work well under pressure and function as a team player
Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of a diverse student population with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with data management and analysis, including data cleaning and troubleshooting
Experience with Cognos Analytics, Google Data Studio, Tableau, or similar dashboarding products
Experience supervising student staff and managing operational support activities
Ability to plan and execute large events, such as academic ceremonies and symposia
Capable of developing and implementing new initiatives to enhance student engagement and institutional priorities
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree strongly preferred
Familiarity with Banner or similar student information systems is preferred

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$44,022.00 - $73,406.80Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
