As a key member of the CIRCLE leadership team, the Assistant Director for Undergraduate Programs will actively contribute to strategic planning and advancement efforts, aiming to amplify the center's impact. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of CIRCLE. **POSITION COMPLEXITIES** The Assistant Director for Undergraduate Programs must navigate the intricate interplay between multiple cultural norms, expectations, and traditions from around the world, alongside American cultural dynamics. This role demands a deep understanding of the evolving needs of post-pandemic college students, including their learning preferences, motivational drivers in academic success, career development, personal relationships, and overall wellbeing. Additionally, the Assistant Director for Undergraduate Programs will represent CIRCLE in collaborations with a diverse range of campus administrative partners and academic departments, aiming to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive support system that enhances the overall effectiveness and reach of international student programs at the University of Washington. This position also requires flexibility to work weekends and evenings to accommodate various program events. **POSITION DIMENSIONS AND IMPACT TO THE UNIVERSITY** At the UW, international students bring diverse backgrounds, knowledge, and perspectives to help create a Global Experience for all Huskies. The UW is committed to providing an equal and transformative Husky Experience for all international students, and CIRCLE was established in November 2019 to uphold this commitment. The Assistant Director for Undergraduate Programs position in CIRCLE creates an opportunity for a dynamic leader for the day-to-day planning and execution of programs and services that provide a transformative Husky experience for the approximately 4,300 current international undergraduates at UW Seattle. From transition programs to 1:1 student support, from info sessions to engagement activities, this role will have direct impact on college students and their success. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Program Management (70%) + Virtual International Husky Welcome : Organize and host welcome sessions in June for incoming international undergraduates, coordinating with CIRCLE staff and 30 student organizations to facilitate Zoom sessions, promotions, and communications. + Regional Connection Groups (RCG) : Develop and lead a seven-week summer engagement program to connect incoming international undergraduate students from the same region through social media group chats and virtual sessions. Responsibilities include curriculum design, data management, and training student leaders for group chat moderation and small group sessions. + Communication Oversight: Manage two-way communications with international undergraduates through RCG group chats, supervising the student communication coordinator for event postings and reminders. + Resource Development: Collaborate with the Student Advisory Board to create a comprehensive resource page or guide for international students. + CIRCLE of Friends Co-management : the CIRCLE of Friends program offers weekly activities and information sessions to engage and support international undergraduates. The Assistant Director for Undergraduate Programs works with department advisors and campus partners to deliver information sessions on topics like health insurance, scholarships, and career preparation during the academic year. + Event Leadership: Lead major annual events such as CIRCLE Day and Graduation Celebration for undergraduates. + Campus Representation: Serve as a CIRCLE representative to enhance service visibility, engagement opportunities, and resource advocacy for international undergraduates. + Data and Feedback Collection: Gather student feedback and data for annual reports and grant proposals to demonstrate program impact and identify service gaps. + Budget Management: Develop budget proposals, monitor expenses, reconcile procurement transactions, and approve student staff hours.Student Support and Advising (20%) + Individual Student Support: Offer 1:1 support to international undergraduate students ensuring confidentiality and utilizing existing CIRCLE resources such as Emergency Aid, Success & Wellbeing Coaching, Let’s Talk, and the General Study course on Skills for Academic & Personal Success. + Case Management: when needed, collaborate with the Student Care Team, Livewell Advocate, Safecampus, and Student Conduct office to address specific student cases. + Policy and Resource Familiarity: Maintain or develop familiarity with UW policies and resources related to safety, registration, finance, academic support, mental health, etc. Additionally, stay informed or learn about F-1/J-1 visa student benefits and regulations.Leadership, Supervision & Volunteering (10%) + Strategic Contribution: Actively participate in strategic planning and advancement efforts, to enhance CIRCLE impact. + Staff Supervision: Supervise eight student staff (Peer Connection Leaders) during the summer and manage the student communication coordinator throughout the academic year. + Professional Engagement: Volunteer at events and serve on committees within the Division of Student Life and beyond, fostering connections, supporting the UW community, and broadening professional learning opportunities. **Lead Responsibilities:** + Lead international undergraduate programs & services **Supervisory Responsibilities:** + Supervise eight student staff (Peer Connection Leaders) during the summer and manage the student communication coordinator throughout the academic year. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** + Bachelor’s degree in education or related field. + Four to five years of relevant work experience, including evidence of regional and/or national involvement in professional organizations related to management of student support functions, and experience leading programs that serve diverse groups of students while enlisting the support of faculty and other campus leaders. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS** + Prior experience in supporting international students at higher education institutions, student leadership development, event planning, classroom teaching/presentation, case management, or other student-related support. **CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT** + Must be available to work for some weekends or evenings when the programs have activities. **Application Process:** The application process may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
