Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Career Services (ADCS) is responsible for assisting the Director of Career Services in planning, developing, and administering career planning and career development programs for ECPI University students and graduates.
Responsibilities
Career Planning:
Provide one-on-one coaching to ECPI University students and graduates on all aspects of their job search, including personal marketing, interview skills, and resume writing. Support and participate in student-focused Career Services events, seminars, and workshops. Collaborate with students and graduates to develop and implement effective job search strategies. Maintain accurate student records in compliance with ECPI University policies, federal and state regulations, and accrediting agency standards. Deliver exceptional customer service to students, graduates, and employers.Employer Engagement:
Develop and manage business partnerships with employers to create career and networking opportunities for students, recent graduates, and alumni. Actively seek employer feedback, research industry trends, and build strong relationships with hiring partners Coordinate employer visits, advisory boards, recruiting events, job fairs, networking events, and career development workshops. Assist employers with prescreening processes and coordinate interviews to facilitate successful placements.Training and Mentorship:
Oversee the training and mentoring of Career Advisors, tailoring programs to their career goals. Provide ongoing coaching to prepare advisors for increased responsibilities and leadership roles. Implement a structured onboarding process for new advisors to ensure a smooth transition and clear expectations. Conduct focused mentorship sessions on specific topics based on advisor needs.Team Leadership:
Act as a liaison between the Director and Career Advisors to streamline communication and improve operational efficiency. Monitor team performance to ensure goals and metrics are achieved, implementing strategies to address gaps when needed. Foster a collaborative, growth-oriented environment that supports team morale and professional development. Partner with advisors on complex student and graduate cases to ensure optimal outcomes. Exhibit empathetic leadership, active listening, and effective guidance to maintain a positive team environment. Act as the main point of contact in the Director's absence and work a flexible schedule as needed to accommodate the availability of advisors, students, and graduates.Employer and Alumni Engagement:
Collaborate with employers to develop meaningful externship and hiring opportunities. Oversee externships for all programs to ensure paperwork is completed according to regulations and reports are completed. Contribute to networking and career outcomes by connecting alumni with students and employers. Dive deeper into employer development to expand partnerships across all programs. Build warm connections between employers and the Career Services team to increase placement opportunities. Nurture relationships with hiring partners to enhance long-term opportunities for students and graduates.Strategic Development:
Collaborate with the Director to identify department needs and develop strategies for continuous improvement. Enhance job readiness initiatives and streamline the transition from graduation to job placement. Propose and implement new programs or initiatives to support departmental growth, such as managing a quarterly waiver initiative and expanding employer networks.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. 2-3 years of related experience in recruiting, staffing, business-to-business sales, or career coaching. CPRW required. Certified Higher Education Professional (CHEP) in Career Services credential achieved. Proven experience in Career Services or a related field, demonstrating leadership abilities.Skills and Abilities:
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and efficient under deadlines, with strong organizational and time management skills. Proficient in internet research, social media, networking, Microsoft Office, and CRM systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to exceptional customer service. Skilled at both independent and team-based work, with a focus on coaching and guiding students and graduates. Dedicated to supporting employment success for students and graduates while adhering to ethical standards, university policies, and accreditation guidelines. Ability to balance operational responsibilities with innovative thinking to support department growth.
