The Assistant Director of Housing and Residential Life oversees the daily operations of multiple residence halls and offices, ensuring smooth and efficient processes related to student services, staff supervision, and crisis management. This role involves managing both professional and paraprofessional staff, monitoring the budget, and serving as a key liaison with university partners, including Campus Safety and Wellness. The Assistant Director will also serve as an in-house partner for student housing facilities services and provide training on StarRez usage as needed. This is a live-in position. The position necessitates on-call availability, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays, to respond to emergencies within our residential community.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree

Required Experience:
3+ years 4 years' relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education. Must include experience managing office operations and activities, budgets and staff, and some experience with mediation and counseling.

Preferred Experience:
3+ years Experience in a student life area, preferably Housing and Residence Life.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Excellent presentation and training/development skills. Ability to interpret and articulate policies to members of the internal and external community. Strong knowledge of database management and software.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficient in the use and development of housing occupancy management software (i.e. Star Rez).

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $85,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
