Job Description:
Under the supervision and at the discretion of the Director of Nursing, assists in all nursing activities. Functions in accordance with the system’s Policies and Procedures and within their professional code of ethics. Provides professional nursing coverage in all areas as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
Coordinates nursing services under the Vice President of Nursing.
Provides direct supervision to clinical nursing managers and other nursing staff as assigned.
Assist the Director and Vice President of Nursing in scheduling, educational training, supervising and evaluating nursing staff.
Provides coaching and immediate feedback to staff as necessary for growth including but not limited to corrective action. Correction action will be done in coordination with Human Resources and the Director of Nursing.
Provides nursing staff support, with the DIrector of Nursing, to include trouble-shooting clients/staff issues as they arise.
Evaluates the performance of the department in coordination with the Director of Nursing and recommends performance improvement suggestions.
Evaluates and assist with development of workflow processes in coordination with the Director of Nursing.
Manages supervised staff time in the Workday system and ensures appropriate coverage.
In coordination with clinical nurse managers, completes, analyzes and reports out data outcomes to Director of Nursing.
Assist with Telehealth functions in clinical setting when requested.
Provides oversight with nursing management for coverage in all areas of nursing support.
Provides after hours on call as needed for nursing support and leadership as needed.
Development of documentation requirements for nursing areas to meet regulatory compliance and program standards.
Completes check-ins with and annual performance evaluations with supervised staff.
Attends nursing leadership meetings, and/or other meetings outside of nursing, when requested by Vice President of Nursing.
Escalates any nursing concerns immediately to the Director of Nursing.
Visits nursing sites within the region as designated by the Director of Nursing for leadership support and oversight.
Assists in development of policies and procedures in coordination with the Director of Nursing.
Reviews nursing incident reports as needed and escalates to DIrector of Nursing.
Serves as a liaison between nursing staff and Director of Nursing.
All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to communicate effectively before groups of residents, employees of the organization, family members and other contacts in the community.
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with complex situations involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Shall be able to establish effective relationships via telephone and personal contacts.
Shall be able to follow direction and accept supervision.
Experience and Education Qualifications:
Nurse (LPN or RN) with 5 or more years of clinical experience preferred.
BSN preferred
Prefer candidates who have served as a nurse supervisor for 3 to 5 years
Supervisory Requirements:

Involve, as appropriate, all employees in order to achieve goals.
Effectively communicate to employees any changes and news worthy events within the department or company.
Handle difficult employee situations directly, using appropriate discretion and Human Resource advice to show respect for the individual
Champion change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas.
Reinforces team approach throughout functions; support and solicit input from team members at all levels with the company.
Employment Requirements:
Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check.
Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.
Maintain active professional licensure.
Must have and maintain certification in CPR/First Aid.
Must complete all training requirements for certification and for organization.
Must have appropriate, reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
ADA Consideration - Heavy work: This job requires heavy physical work, involving exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. It also requires significant walking or standing, or sitting while using arm or leg controls, or working at a fast pace with constant pushing and pulling of materials, even if they are light. The employee must be able to stand, walk, sit, use their hands, reach, talk, hear, and have good vision, including close and distance vision. They should also be able to navigate stairs.
