The Education and Integrative Initiatives team within the SDSS Dean’s Office focuses on the management of degrees, student policies, and student well-being, the development of new degrees, curricula, partnerships and initiatives, and the development and delivery of non-degree educational programming (professional development, career services, community outreach, research internships, etc.). The Education and Integrative Initiatives team is seeking an experienced student services professional to provide administrative and operational support to students and faculty as a member of the SDSS Dean’s Office. The Assistant Director of Student and Postdoctoral Affairs will be responsible for student services matters, including administering the sustainability graduate certificate program, course scheduling, student/postdoc events, student financial support, and academic advising. As a member of the Student and Postdoctoral Affairs team, the Assistant Director will provide backup student services support to SDSS departments and programs as needed. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student and Postdoctoral Affairs, this position will work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, providing student services support to a broad range of students and programming. A successful candidate should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to independently manage multiple projects, and enthusiasm for working in a student focused environment. They should be proactive, a team player, and willing to adapt to changes based on needs. **Your Responsibilities will include** ***:** + Independently manage all aspects of the sustainability graduate certificate programs, including interpretation of policies and problem solving for oftentimes complex and sensitive issues. + Develop marketing materials and outreach strategies. Build and nurture relationships across campus, serve as a liaison to other programs, and represent SDSS to partners. + Analyze and recommend program improvements. Advise students and issue certificates. + Lead and execute student and postdoctoral events and programming, including commencement, orientation activities, resource fairs, information sessions, major’s events, and community events. + Provide advice and counsel to students on a range of issues including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic policies, accessibility, community standards, etc., to guide them in making appropriate choices and decisions. Triage and recommend solutions for complex and sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality at all times. + Key point of contact for inquiries from prospective and current students, providing information and/or referring to appropriate offices. + Provide a first line response to identify students in crisis and refer to appropriate resources, as needed. + Oversee course scheduling, Stanford Bulletin entries, room scheduling, and other logistics related to academic operation. Continuously assess operations and develop recommendations to resolve programmatic challenges. + Process graduate assistantship appointments and funding entries. + Collect and analyze data from multiple sources including student feedback, surveys, trend reports, and data analytics. Prepare and summarize reports and make recommendations to enhance offerings, such as programs and courses, and to influence current processes and policies. Identify gaps in data, additional data sources, or additional analysis that could be helpful in enhancing programs and courses. + Identify trends, perform needs analysis, and participate in the implementation and testing of new technology. + May provide oversight of financial processes such as budgets, financial reimbursements, data entry, reviewing terms and conditions regarding contracts, understanding vendor requirements, and following up and resolving issues. + May train and supervise other staff, volunteers, students, and temporary workers. * _The job duties listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification and are not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks, and responsibilities.
