The Assistant Director will represent the University at select on and off-campus events (e.g. high school visits, college fairs, Nova Nation Presentations, case studies, panels, etc.) for recruitment and yield purposes in a designated territory*. In addition, the Assistant Director will serve as a resource to campus visitors, such as students, parents, school counselors, alumni, etc. regarding the application process. This position is responsible for organizing, implementing, and managing Villanova’s recruitment efforts and yield activities, and working with alumni volunteers from their respective region. This individual will also holistically read and assess applications assigned for admission review and participate in admissions committees. Extreme confidentiality and discretion are required regarding recruit and applicant information. This position will also assist with other duties as assigned by senior leadership in the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
In addition, this individual will also serve as an integral team member relating to initiatives that are aligned with the University’s Strategic Plan and designated by the leadership of the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
Extensive travel*, weekend, and evening hours are required.* Designated territory to be determined and may change (travel may require flights, overnight stays, including weekends

Duties and Responsibilities: Holistically review, assesses, and be accountable for all applications from the designated region; serve on admission committees; assist with reading applications from other regions as assigned.


Coordinate up to eight to ten weeks of travel annually for the purpose of recruitment and yield in a designated geographic territory. Will also develop a recruitment and yield plan for that region, which includes identifying feeder and potential feeder schools in the area and taking steps to significantly increase the University’s commitment in this region. Will be responsible for making all travel arrangements, including airline and hotel reservations, rental cars, etc. Represent Villanova University at college fairs, high schools, forums/panels and communicate with prospective students and their families on an individual basis. Maintain and adhere to a budget provided for the recruitment activities in the region. Detailed expense records must be maintained and reports provided.
Actively assist/present with Nova Nation Presentations, preview days, open houses, etc., and serve as Counselor of the Day (COD), which involves meetings and answering questions with visiting students, families, and school counselors regarding the admission process, scholarships, financial aid, etc. Other job programmatic responsibilities may include assisting other staff members with their responsibilities and to be determined subsequently. Such responsibilities may include on-campus events, communications, scholarship, social media, technology/Slate, etc. Participate in yield activities for admitted students on and off campus, from the designated region, including Admitted Students Days, receptions and general communication. Perform other duties and tasks relating to the recruitment and enrollment of prospective and admitted students, including but not limited to serving on various committees throughout the year that enhance the development and continuous improvement of University initiatives.
This position also serves as an integral team member relating to initiatives that are aligned with the University’s Strategic Plan. Placement in appropriate teams will be determined based on the individual’s experiences and the needs of the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned relating to the recruitment of prospective students and the yield of admitted students.
Maintain membership and representation within the various regional admission counselor association(s) for networking and professional development. Attendance of at least one annual conference to benefit the University is strongly encouraged. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Experience Bachelor’s degree is required, along with two to three years of demonstrated achievement or competency in a professional administrative and/or counseling experience in a university/college admission office or comparable experience or advanced education in a related field.


Specific Job Knowledge Must be extremely organized, manage the budget allocation for recruitment and special programming, and be able to work as part of a team both in the office and in the wider campus community. Strong critical thinking, evaluation, and written and oral communication skills are required, along with ability to demonstrate confidentiality and discretion. Must be able to work independently and simultaneously perform multiple tasks while working under strict deadlines. General knowledge of the workings of an admission office, as well as knowledge of basic office and technological equipment, Slate/Technolutions and Microsoft Office required. Must be available for evening and weekend travel and work based on admission cycle. Must have a valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications: A Master’s degree is preferred along with an in-depth understanding of the college admission process with the experience of at least three full admission cycles (recruitment, application review, selection, and yield phases). Must be extremely organized, manage the budget allocation for recruitment and special programming, and be able to work as part of a team both in the office and in the wider campus community. Ability to work independently, and be able to simultaneously perform multiple tasks while working under extremely stressful situations with mandated deadlines. In addition to basic knowledge of office equipment, experience with the following technologies: Slate/Technolutions, Banner, Concur, etc. are strongly preferred to review applications, track inquiries, run reports, manage travel expenses, etc. Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: Extensive travel (including overnight trips), plus weekend and evening hours are required.
