Job Title Assistant Director Student Global & Community Connections Agency Tarleton State University Department Global and Community Connections Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Stephenville, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description The Assistant Director, under general direction, assists the Director in all aspects of operations within the Office of Student Global & Community Connections. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for advancing the mission of the office by researching, developing, planning, implementing, and assessing innovative and programmatic solutions aimed at department/divisional outcomes. This position is on the Stephenville campus with work hours of Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, or as work requirements indicate. Serves as CSA (Campus Security Authority). Must be able to work remotely at the discretion of the University. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 40% - Initiatives Development and Student Success - Assists with the creation, implementation and maintenance of initiatives. This includes creating, assessing, planning, and hosting initiatives and campus-wide programs which include Texan Leaders Scholars program and Sigma Alpha Pi (NSLS). Specifically, works with developing all aspects of initiatives for the division. This person will also participate in Divisional training and initiatives. This position would utilize University systems and software in order to follow academic progress. Will support efforts of the Divisional leadership in building and maintaining relationships with faculty, staff, and community partners. The successful candidate will have knowledge of appropriate software, for assessment and reporting. Participates in developing departmental and unit-specific strategic plans based on departmental goals and objectives. Manages special projects as assigned by the Director. Establishes objectives, outcomes, processes, and procedures. 25% - Student Experience and Success - Under the supervision of the director, the Assistant Director helps with the planning, development, implementation assessment, and evaluation of departmental goals, policies, organization, and initiatives; works closely with professional staff to help achieve departmental outcomes related to student leadership and initiatives; assists with all accountability and assessment reporting through appropriate University software. Assists in producing initiative reports. Ensures the success of our Texan Leaders Scholars program and NSLS organization is meeting the expectations of the division. 25% - Assessment and Evaluation - Under the supervision of the director, the assistant director helps with the planning, development, implementation assessment, and evaluation of departmental goals, policies, organization, and initiatives; works closely with the director to provide assessment and evaluation of Texan leaders Program and Sigma Alpha Pi (NSLS). 10%: Other Duties Represents the department and Division at university functions when appropriate; assumes responsibility for other special projects and committee work as delegated. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned. Assists with the collaboration of student staff and Spanish translators. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: + Bachelor’s degree in higher education field or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Six years of related experience. Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Demonstrated ability to train and manage others in the use of multiple complex systems. Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present in small or large groups. Demonstrate leadership skills. Demonstrate dependability and ability to work independently. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in a related field. Minimum of six years of experience in higher education. Experience with grant writing, monitoring, and assessment. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Teams and Canva. Experience with project development, management, and assessment. Experience with leading or serving on committees and working groups, experience coordinating efforts between various entities, and ability to work cooperatively with others. Compensation & Benefits Salary: Commensurate with experience Salary Range: The target base annual salary range is $49,000 to $68,330.50 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
