PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Director Technical Training – Train & Engine to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in developing and implementing comprehensive technical training programs for our Train & Engine employees. This role would lead a team of training instructors, plan workforce execution, and meet regulatory and customer service standards. Successful candidates would have strong leadership skills, business sense, along with the ability to plan, guide, and influence decision makers. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
+ Plan and deliver Train & Engine (T&E) training aligned with business strategies and improvement targets
+ Partner with the operational leaders to identify training opportunities to conceptualize, organize, and deliver consistent and cost-effective training
+ Manage the planning processes and delivery of initial training, certification training, recurrent training skill upgrade of new hires and existing employees
+ Maintain a multi-million-dollar training budget and leverage resources to achieve the desired training outcomes
+ Develop efficient training plans with strategic partners/ training providers and maintain all training records within the training systems
+ Build a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
+ Lead the development of educational principles and design instructional programs
+ Provide leadership and administrative, backfill instructor roles on an emergency bases, and conduct instructor evaluations
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
+ High school diploma or equivalent, preference for post-secondary education
+ 7 years’ experience in railroad operations, with 5 years of experience leading and developing others
+ Proficient in using MS Office Suite
+ Conductor certification required; Engineer license preferred
+ Flexibility to work evening and weekends and travel as required (10-25%)
+ Must possess a valid driver's license

This includes candidates participating in the Trainee Program who will also be required to pass a drug test during the training process before receiving final qualification for the position.

Management Conductor Program:
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
