Assistant Distribution Center Manager - Afternoon Shift (1pm - 930pm)

Full-Time MON-FRI 1:00pm-9:30pm Shift

Job Summary

Subfamily Description

Directs and coordinates operations for efficient warehouse storage which includes loading, packaging, and shipping orders for stores and customers as well as monitoring and resolving inventory discrepancies and handling damaged or defective merchandise for return to vendors.

Position Purpose

Responsible for leading the distribution personnel as a team to ensure all safety, quality, packaging, receipt and shipment standards, and operational goals are attained.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Ensuring safety, productivity and quality in all distribution operations.Developing and managing the distribution department budget.Designing and constantly evaluating the distribution department budget.Refurbish and enhance site infrastructure and equipment to support site efforts in growth and meeting objectives.Continue efforts to build maintenance performance metrics and train all staff in those measures to optimize performance and return on investment.Ensure associates have the tools and training necessary to do the job.Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odors.Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree.Previous experience in fleet management.Exposure to Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.Experience in distribution/logistics management. Previous supervisory/team lead experience.

Career Level Dimensions

Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally, 5+ years' experience in related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.Problem Complexity - Experience in providing solutions.Autonomy - Ensure that work is performed consistently with HD Supply policies and procedures.Leadership - Leads a group or team of warehouse operations associates, delivery drivers, and supervisors.

Work Environment
