Assistant Engineering Manager, LHR
Role Introduction

To supervise the operational shift and certify aircraft maintenance ensuring Engineering is able to deliver a safe, reliable, efficient and customer centric operation to all stakeholders to meet regulatory authorities and the Company’s business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Accountabilities:

• Deputise as the Engineering Manager when required and assume the full responsibilities as detailed in the Engineering Manager’s Job Description
• Supervise the shift to ensure the team is able to deliver a safe, efficient and effective operation
• Perform routine maintenance, inspection, servicing, defect rectification and issue certification for Cathay and Air Hong Kong aircraft as rostered
• Perform ground-based aircraft health monitoring before arrival to assess aircraft serviceability and respond accordingly
• Perform additional aircraft maintenance as requested by Cathay Maintenance Control and Maintenance Control Planning Hong Kong as appropriate to qualification
• Perform routine maintenance, inspection, servicing, defect rectification and issue certification for third party customer’s aircraft as applicable
• Perform onsite oversight to performance of the ground handling third party suppliers at the responsible station(s) – base station and partner station(s)
• Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers
• Perform relief and other operational duties on other stations as requested
• Keep up to date with the aircraft systems, technology, regulatory requirements, processes and procedures
• Other duties and projects as reasonably directed by the Engineering Manager

Working Environment and Safety:

Actively monitor ground safety during aircraft servicing and maintenance and ensure that all people operating around the aircraft adhere to general ramp safety practices
• Ensure safe working practices are applied and that all accidents are investigated and reported
• Maintain familiarity with the local airport and company Emergency and Accident procedures

Communication:

• Ensure all incoming communications are actioned
• Liaise with the Airport Services, Cargo and other Cathay airport departments to ensure maximum aircraft handling efficiency
• Liaise with airport subcontractors as required during aircraft handling
• Liaise with contracted third party operators’ local representatives
• Familiarity with and uses the available methods of communication such as VHF radios, Internet, fax, memo, email, SITA etc.

Group Equipment, Aircraft Tooling and Facilities:

• Assist with the servicing, maintenance and cleanliness of all station company ground equipment and vehicles
• Assist with the recalibration of aircraft tooling in accordance with company procedures

People Development, Performance Management and Manpower Accountabilities:

• Supervise the station Engineering team on the applicable shift by leading, supporting and coaching to achieve success and solve issues
• Help to build a strong and motivated team to foster positive team spirit and facilitate teamwork
• Demonstrate leadership and lead by example in accordance with Cathay’s core values
• Help to develop employees with high potential and identify learning opportunities to ensure appropriate training and development
• Maintain active and ongoing dialogue in relation to employee goals and individual performance
• Enhance the employee experience in line with the role level and the internal brand promise
• Roster employee duties and produce the roster
• Assist with the administration of employee and maintenance of records

Administration:

• Assist and complete administration within the team/office environment as required
• Assist with the maintenance of all station technical publication, logs and records
• Assist with the Company material handling, storage procedures and Customs regulations in relation to imported aircraft materials

E&A

• Emergency and Accident and Crisis Response responsibilities

Requirements

Academic Qualifications:

• Must hold basic license HKAR 66 B1, UK CAA Part-66 B1 or EASA Part-66 B1
• Must hold 2 or more of the following aircraft approval types: B777 (GE90), A350 (RR Trent), B747-400 (PW4000), B747-8 (GEnx) 

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience of aircraft engineering as Engineer or equivalent 
• Have (or be willing to receive) recognised management training
• Demonstrated expertise, management and leadership qualities
