We have an immediate opening for an Assistant Environmental Manager to lead a team of environmental specialists to ensure compliance on a high-profile construction project involving high-voltage transmission lines, substations, and telecom facilities in Nevada. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging environmental professional to support a team of specialists and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in the transmission line industry and a strong foundation in environmental compliance practices. Responsibilities Assist the Environmental Manager in leading and mentoring a team of environmental specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Support the team in ensuring adherence to all environmental regulations and standards set by federal, state, and local agencies, specifically emphasizing compliance with Bureau of Land Management (BLM) requirements. Help communicate environmental restrictions and concerns with construction management, crews, and schedulers to ensure smooth project execution. Assist in developing and implementing project compliance plans, including SWPPP, SPCC, dust management, reclamation strategies, etc. Provide support to construction teams during pre-construction, planning, and permitting activities. Assist in conducting and overseeing environmental impact assessments, site evaluations, and risk assessments. Help manage the acquisition of essential environmental and local permits, ensuring compliance with all conditions and stipulations. Work with the Owner’s environmental team and CIC to obtain necessary variances. Assist in coordinating with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to address environmental concerns and ensure transparent communication. Help implement and oversee environmental monitoring programs, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports for regulatory agencies and project stakeholders. Support developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies to minimize environmental impacts and ensure the project's success. Assist in providing ongoing training and guidance to team members and project staff on environmental best practices and regulatory requirements. Respond to and manage environmental incidents under the direction of the Environmental Manager, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate impacts and report to relevant authorities. Qualifications Skills and Abilities: Strong leadership and team collaboration skills. Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to conduct environmental assessments and prepare detailed reports. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to assist in developing and implementing mitigation strategies and environmental management plans. Effective communication with construction management, crews, and regulatory agencies. Strong organizational and document management skills. Ability to multitask and maintain effectiveness under multiple priorities. Professional demeanor with the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy. Solid mathematical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in GIS and field data collection methods. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for documentation and reporting purposes. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, Ecology, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental compliance, with some experience in the transmission line or energy industry. Experience conducting pre-construction surveys, SWPPP inspections, and biological monitoring. Experience working with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, particularly the BLM. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISEC, CESSWI, or CPESC) are a plus but not required. *Pay Range: $90,000 - $140,000
