Job DescriptionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Financial Controller to join our team in Gaborone, Botswana. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the financial integrity and success of our organization by overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance processes.
Assist in preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reportsCollaborate with the Financial Controller to develop and implement budgets and forecastsEnsure compliance with company policies, local tax regulations, and statutory requirementsOversee internal and external audits, addressing any findings and implementing corrective actionsMonitor daily revenue performance and ensure proper revenue recognitionManage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, including credit risk assessments and debt collectionReview and approve bank transactions and reconciliationsParticipate in the supplier selection process and approve procurement schedulesOversee financial systems and ensure data security and reporting automationMonitor inventory control procedures and asset managementReview and approve capital expenditure budgets and oversee contract negotiationsAssist in payroll processing and conduct random payroll auditsProvide financial leadership and guidance to finance teams across the organizationConduct regular finance training sessions to ensure compliance with corporate policiesAttend executive committee meetings, providing financial insights and recommendationsQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or AccountingProfessional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or equivalentMinimum 5 years of experience in finance, preferably in a Big4 audit firm or as a financial analystStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalProficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly ExcelExperience with general ledger and hotel-related computer operating systemsIn-depth knowledge of financial reporting and compliance standardsUnderstanding of hotel industry financial operations (desirable)Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environmentStrong leadership and team management skillsExpertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planningFamiliarity with internal control procedures and risk managementAbility to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insightsStrong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in workExcellent time management and organizational skillsAbility to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsAdditional InformationBotswana citizens only
