Assistant General Counsel - Corporate

Hub Group, a public company providing comprehensive transportation and logistics management solutions with over $4 billion in revenue and 6,000 employees, is seeking a talented and experienced commercial and corporate attorney. In this role, the Assistant General Counsel – Corporate will join a team of experienced commercial attorneys that provide day-to-day legal contracting for Hub Group’s diverse transportation and logistics businesses. Among this team, this role will also have primary responsibility for supporting the Deputy General Counsel regarding Hub Group’s M&A, securities, and corporate governance initiatives.

Essential Job Functions:

Draft and negotiate contracts for Hub Group, including a wide variety of customer and supplier agreements, taking responsibility for the contract lifecycle through execution Support the Deputy General Counsel on Hub Group’s M&A projects (including contractual diligence), SEC reporting and securities law matters, and corporate governance requirements for both the public company (including the Board) and its subsidiaries Track and implement commercial and corporate law developments applicable to Hub Group Analyze data and processes and propose methods for continuous improvement Provide creative, proactive general business counseling to Hub Group’s businesses Develop and maintain strong client relationships and an understanding of Hub Group’s businesses

Minimum Requirements:

JD from an accredited US law school Licensed in the state of Illinois (or other state) and a member in good standing At least 6 years of substantive commercial and corporate experience, with preference for time at both a national law firm and in-house Strong substantive knowledge of commercial contracts and corporate law subject matter areas  Experience in the transportation sector a plus Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal) Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work autonomously with minimal supervision Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy Proven ability to balance legal risks with business goals—good business sense Desire to be pro-active, challenged, and grow professionally, with a focus on creative solutions Proficiency in computer skills, including Outlook and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
