Assistant General Counsel - Real Estate & Commercial

Essential Job Functions

Draft, review, and negotiate real estate leases, amendments, and related agreements, ensuring alignment with Hub Group’s operational and strategic goals Provide strategic legal counsel on real estate matters, including lease compliance and lease-related risk assessments, and support litigation colleague on lease-related disputes  Draft and negotiate other commercial contracts for Hub Group, including a wide variety of customer and supplier agreements, taking responsibility for the contract lifecycle through execution Track and implement real estate and commercial legal developments applicable to Hub Group Analyze data and processes and propose methods for continuous improvement Provide creative, proactive legal counseling to Hub Group’s businesses Develop and maintain strong client relationships and an understanding of Hub Group’s businesses

Minimum Qualifications

JD from an accredited US law school Licensed in the state of Illinois (or other state) and a member in good standing At least 5 years of substantive real estate leasing and commercial experience, with preference for time at both a national law firm and in-house Strong substantive knowledge of real estate leasing and commercial contracts  Experience with real estate transactions in the transportation and logistics sector a plus Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal) Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work autonomously with minimal supervision Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy Proven ability to balance legal risks with business goals—good business sense Desire to be pro-active, challenged, and grow professionally, with a focus on creative solutions Proficiency in computer skills, including Outlook and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Salary Range: $180,000 - $210,000/year 

This is an estimated range based on the circumstances at the time of posting, however it may change based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, education, market factors, geographical location, budget, and demand.
