Duties and Responsibilities:
Review test results and consult with Center physician on any unusual, abnormal, or elevated test results and non-routine situations in addition to all medical incidents which must also be reviewed by Center physician. Supervise laboratory staff and prepare daily work assignments. Perform some laboratory assays. Maintain and review records. Schedule/perform instrument/equipment maintenance and QC Assist Attending Physician with immunization scheduling. Maintain the proficiency testing program. Purchasing/Inventory control. Train laboratory personnel. Any other duties as required by Supervisor.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education of a 4 year Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology 6 years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience of which at least 2 years were spent in a clinical laboratory with a Director at the doctoral level Must have a NYS License in Medical Technology Required to complete 12 hours of continuing education credits to maintain the NYS license Previous work experience should demonstrate adaptability to changing priorities, excellent attention to detail, legible handwriting and the ability to deal effectively with people Ability to prioritize duties on a monthly cycle Ability to work with a variety of personalitiesPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit or stand for up to four (4) hours at a time. Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to fifty (50) pounds. Ability to operate computer software including SLDD (with training) and Microsoft Office. Be able to bend, stoop or kneel. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
