PurposeTo be the point of contact for building maintenance-related issues and small-scale construction projects for the spaces for the George I Sanchez Building to which the College of Education is primarily located. Ensure the physical spaces in SZB meet the academic and research needs of the successful operation of the department. Perform inspections of spaces in SZB and report issues to appropriate university units for corrective action.
ResponsibilitiesAttend UT’s building manager meetings.
Conduct daily facilities walk throughs and report nonstandard conditions, inspect the building for signs of damage or wear issues, cosmetic projects and more. Schedule regular building maintenance and janitorial services. Plan and facilitate equipment and furniture moves. Check all SZB classrooms and conference rooms for cleanliness and operation for daily use.
Coordinate utility outages with occupants.
Ensure that all laboratories are following Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Frequent visits to satellite facilities.
Maintain BACS, AED’s, fire extinguishers. Handle all emergency situations (medical, fire, evacuations, etc.) within established procedures.
Maintain emergency preparedness guide, evacuation plan, shelter in place locations, etc.
Manage key inventory, issue keys, collect keys, issue and maintain keypad codes, maintain BEL BACS access list.
Oversee small scale projects in the building to enhance the facilities. Work with the facilities and construction manager on construction projects.
Point of contact for campus facilities and maintenance groups. Enter service requests in UT service ticket system (WORQS) and report when work is completed.
Respond to emergent issues, sometimes including evening, weekend, and holidays.
Responsible for space inventory and maintenance of space records; including usage, occupants, and capacity.
Serve as liaison with the PMCS, EHS, Facilities, building stakeholders, and appropriate university and non-university agencies for repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Other related duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsAssociate's Degree in General Studies with at least 6 years of custodial maintenance work or related building services and at least 2 years of Supervisory Experience.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsExperience at the University of Texas or in a university setting. Demonstrated excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written work instructions. Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member. Demonstrated customer service skills.
Salary Range$52,000 + depending on qualifications
