You will need organizational skills and be able to effectively delegate, and follow up to ensure work has been completed correctly. Attention to detail is critical for this position as accurate and timely payment processing is critical for university success. Compliance with Laws, Regulations, and Policies – help team leads in ensuring that all work is being performed in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, university policy, and in compliance with applicable accounting standards. Working with the Accounts Payables Manager, you will review and update university policies and standard operating procedures to reflect best practices for the profession. Accounts Payable Staff Management & Development – manage staff and processing workloads, ensure processing standards are maintained, ensure excellent customer service is provided, and assist in reviewing the needs of staff to help identify and provide staff development. Continuous Process Improvement & Fraud Detection – manage existing processes and continually look for opportunities to improve these processes, as well as identify any process breakdowns, or risk points in the process. This includes looking for fraud risks in the process, alerting leadership if any risks are discovered, and working to mitigate those risks through process changes. Financial Services Technologies and Systems – our ability to assist the University in achieving broad strategic goals includes our ability to effectively utilize the technological resources available. This position will need to be familiar with our ERP and electronic procurement systems in relation to accounts payable processes and resolve issues that may arise. This position will assist the AP Manager in tracking Key Performing Indicators (KPIs) to document the work being performed and identify opportunities for improvement. Measuring the success of what we do, broadly, is a goal of President Randall. Manage, mentor and develop a customer service-oriented team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. **Responsibilities** 1. Forecasts, develops and implements policies and procedures in the areas of customer service, staff management and budgetary goals and objectives that are consistent with University of Utah’s policies. 2. Markets and promotes new and existing programs and services to internal and external customers. 3. Participates in University-wide committees to establish customer service standards and administrative plans and policies. 4. Facilitates cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships. 5. Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through. 6. Develops departmental strategies consistent with the assigned department’s continuous quality improvement program. 7. Ensures competency of staff through the development and/or presentation of educational programs and through on-going staff performance evaluations. Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
