Job Summary:

Okemo Competition Center programs seek to provide energetic athletes of all backgrounds and dedication levels, the opportunity to enjoy and attain excellence across a range of snow sports. We are seeking an Assistant Manager to lead and meet the needs of our growing program. 

The successful candidate will work closely with the Competition Department Manager, Discipline Head Coaches and Event Operations Lead to promote on-snow program and event excellence, success and growth. They will provide leadership and mentorship to staff including a comprehensive, dynamic coach education and professional development training and develop positive relationships throughout the organization and community. 

 

The Assistant Manager will be active in all aspects of department operations, collaborating on long range training and event plans, while being responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Competitions Department. The Okemo Competitions Department is a multi-discipline training and events center, an understanding across fields, with the ability to guide our leaders in all areas will be critical to success. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, a multi-tasker, and a good communicator that is able to effectively collaborate with various partners.

 

Job Specifications:

Location: Okemo, VT Expected Pay Range: The budgeted range starts at $25.00 - $30.59. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience. Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time / Seasonal Skill Level: Advanced

 

Job Responsibilities:

Hiring, training, scheduling and leading performance of department staff to meet the goals of this department. Oversight of seasonal planning within subject areas and assist with the implementation of different stages of these plans with a focus on athlete development. Participate in event planning. Coordinate and execute on mountain events, including alpine racing, freestyle and snowboard events. Coordinate training activities and hill space allocations with mountain operations and ski clubs. Run safety and guest service expectations with all operations in department, including but not limited to; venue set up and tear down, use of tools and equipment, event course safety. Handle the NASTAR Racing Operation to align with company standard methodologies and compliance. Provide coordination and operational support to internal and external partners. Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements:

Validated technical knowledge, coaching experience and passion for snow sports. USSS level 200 or higher coaching certification (PSIA or International Equivalent). Extensive knowledge of USSS, USASA, FIS, and VARA. Extensive knowledge of event management, surface preparation, and course setting. Ability to work as part of a team and be productive when unsupervised. Ability to ski/ride and work safely in all snow surface/terrain conditions in harsh winter weather for prolonged periods of time. Lead and retain an enthusiastic team of experienced coaches while also recruiting and developing new coaches. Shown organizational, communication and written skills. Proficient knowledge of and comfort with technology. Proven track record to positively encourage athletes of all ages and skill levels.

 

Qualifications: 

2+ years of supervisory experience in resort operations, events, or marketing – required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills – required. Flexible work schedule based on program and event needs- required. High degree of organization and attention to detail- required. Expert level skier/rider- required. Valid Driver's License – required Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office / MS Outlook – required.

Preferred:

Experience with timing racing events, timing software, and production of competition results.  College Degree

 

The expected pay range is $25.00 - $30.59. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
