Reports to: Global Trade Partnerships Manager
The Assistant Manager, Global Product Development will plan and execute strategies for specialty segments, including but not limited to Student, Cruise, Marine, Humanitarian products, and Stopover/Transit propositions, as well as other high-demand offerings.
This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to identify market opportunities, design innovative product solutions, and ensure effective market execution. The individual will oversee the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring alignment with global sales strategic objectives and driving market share in key segments.
By fostering a culture of innovation and responsiveness, this role will enhance Cathay’s presence and competitiveness in the global market. Additionally, this role ensures we have the right products in each segment to drive market share and revenue growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy Development and Execution
Formulate and lead the development of strategies for specialty segments, including but not limited to Student, Cruise, Marine, Humanitarian and Stopover/Transit products, to enhance Cathay’s market presence and competitivenessImplement strategies and game plans to improve brand awareness and drive market share in key segments globallyExplore new segment trends and identify new commercial product needs to ensure Cathay remains competitive and responsive to market demands
Revenue Generation
Develop and grow the sales of new and existing specialty segment products, but not limited to Student, Cruise, Marine, Humanitarian and Stopover/Transit productsCollaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure have the right product attributes are formulated and distributed to support revenue growthWork with outport teams to increase awareness and drive sales for specialty segment productsDemonstrate a proactive approach in hunting for incremental revenue by launching new initiatives or enhancing existing offersIdentify and leverage opportunities with specialty segments trade partners or any external partners to improve market penetration and share
Market Insights and Innovation
Conduct regular competitive analysis of Cathay's offerings in the industry, ensuring a proactive approach to innovation; actively gather customer insights to enhance product offerings and customer propositionsStay close to market developments and understand dynamics to capture new business streams; foster a culture of innovation and responsiveness to stay relevant in the global marketRequirementsA bachelor degree holder or equivalent in a related business fieldA minimum of five years in airline or related commercial experienceExcellent commercial acumen with an analytical mindsetProven experience in data analysis, with a focus on deriving actionable insightsExcellent planning and organizational abilities, with a knack for managing multiple prioritiesGood project management skills will be a plusSolid sales and relationship-building skillsAbility to challenge the status quo and develop creative strategies to capture business opportunitiesStrong negotiation and change management capabilitiesProven ability to collaborate across cultures, departments, and client partnerships; good command of English and ChineseAbility to work under pressure and meet tight timelines; proficiency in using sales and data tools such as Excel, Salesforce.com, and/or DDSPersonal & Application Information
