Job Summary

Highly skilled and experienced Casting & Machining Inspection Professional.

Responsible for ensuring the quality of castings and machined components meet drawings, specifications and industry standards.

Handson experience of supplier inspection & development.  Role includes travelling at supplier end for stage wise & pre inspection.

Responsibilities

Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of castings and machined components to ensure compliance with customer specifications, drawings, and industry standards. Verify casting dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish using precision measuring instruments. Witness of Destructive & Non-destructive Testing. Identify and report defects, anomalies, and areas for improvement in casting processes. Develop and implement inspection plans, procedures, and checklists to ensure effective quality control. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Engineering, and Quality Assurance, to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions. Identify and report defects, anomalies, and areas for improvement in casting and machining processes. Develop and maintain inspection records, reports, and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct audits and assessments of supplier quality management systems to ensure compliance with company standards. Stay up-to-date with industry developments, standards, and best practices in casting and machining inspection.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Production, Metallurgy, or related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in quality control, inspection, or related field, preferably in casting and machining industries. Strong knowledge of casting and machining processes, materials, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001). Proficiency in inspection techniques, including visual, dimensional, and non-destructive testing methods.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

Travel to the vendors for the Meetings, Inspections and Improvements.   

Key Competencies

Good Knowledge of codes & Standards (ASME, ASTM, ISO & IS etc.) Knowledge of Casting Method and Pattern inspection. Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and lean manufacturing principles. Knowledge and experience in the following manufacturing processes
- Casting (i.e. sand castings, gray cast iron, precision)
- Machining (i.e. lathes, mills, CNC machining centres, de-burring) Good communication skills with internal department as well as with vendors.
