Day - 08 Hour (United States of America) **This is a Stanford Health Care job.** **A Brief Overview** The Assistant Manager- Rehab Services participates as a member of the management team to assure attainment of the objectives of the Rehabilitation Department and holds operational and clinical responsibility of assigned service. The Assistant Manager deals with evolving integrated healthcare delivery systems, technological innovations, and increasingly complex regulatory environment, restructuring of work, and an increased focus on preventive care. The Assistant Manager focuses staff efforts on serving patient needs and establishes a working environment that is conducive to continuous learning and quality improvements, and which supports excellence in clinical practice and patient care. The Assistant Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining treatment protocols and standards, and developing programs which support a dynamic environment to meet the needs of the patients in an efficient manner. The Assistant Manager is responsible for work scheduling, staffing, hiring, orientation, competency training and the timely completion of performance evaluations. In conjunction with the Manager or designated individuals, initiates, manages and monitors Quality Measures. In collaboration with management and clinic leadership teams, recommends, designs and implements rehab services program development. Works with the manager, clinical education team, Clinical Specialists, and therapists to assess and direct staff developmental goals. Identifies operational concerns and in conjunction with the Manager institutes measures to provide an efficient, effective and safe environment. **Locations** Stanford Health Care **What you will do** + Assists in developing and implementing performance improvement initiatives, maintaining department policies and procedures, and quality monitoring. + Assists with oversight of student program in coordination with Clinical Education Coordinator. Works with the Manager, Advanced Clinical Specialists and ECC for the development and updates of staff orientation and competency training materials. + Attracts, retains and develops key people who contribute significantly to the growth and success of Rehabilitation Medicine and Services. Uses a variety of management styles and lean processes to assure effective working relationships. Motivates staff in fulfilling their job responsibilities and communicates the philosophy and concepts of the institution. + Defines the scope of emerging rehabilitation roles, programs, and practice settings of the future consistent with national trends in health care delivery. + Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals. Participates in decision-making by active membership on committees and teams. In collaboration with Manager, develops business, operations and strategic plans for the unit and for specific programs and services. + Develops clinical / professional skills in staff. Maintains communication mechanisms with those responsible for the service area during the absence of the Manager. + Ensures compliance with state and federal laws, accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards, including quality assurance, license requirements and all policies and procedures of Outpatient Rehabilitation and SHC within the service line + Manages the operational and clinical aspects of rehabilitative care in assigned area. + Performs supervisory functions by interviewing, selecting and providing training for new staff; by approving or disapproving recommendations from subordinate staff on personnel actions; and by determining the need for and initiating improvement efforts in order to ensure adequate and competent staffing. + Represents SHC on local, state, or national boards, commissions, and associations as requested or approved by Clinic Leadership; Actively involved in continuing professional development, such as serving in professional/community groups, representing SHC at external activities and maintaining contact with professional organizations. + Assumes responsibilities for representation at meetings in the Manager’s absence. + Maintains advanced clinical competency and provides direct patient care in proportion to specific area needs. + Monitors and evaluates equipment, systems and supplies to ensure operational efficiency and reliability of results. + Participates and works with the Manager on the capital and resource allocation. + Performs all human resource management responsibilities in conjunction with the Manager, such as the timely completion of employee performance appraisals; recommendation of staff for promotions or transfers: participation in interviews, hiring and termination of employees. + Performs review of staff documentation to assure quality, regulatory, and fiscal compliance. Ensures staff's ability to meet all documentation requirements. Provides appropriate training as needed. Assists in preparing staff and areas for regulatory review and surveys (The Joint Commission, Department of Health Services, etc.) + Oversees daily operations in assigned rehab area which may include: staffing, patient scheduling, case management, utilization/resource review, managing equipment and supplies, identifying problems and effectively resolving issues. Keeps the Manager apprised of daily operational issues. + Coordinates with other members of Rehabilitation leadership to ensure optimal patient access while promoting patient satisfaction **Education Qualifications** + Requirement met by License/Certification Requirement **Experience Qualifications** + Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience **Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** + Ability to make financial projections and write reports + Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing + Ability to manage complex projects and resources (people, costs, time) + Ability to plan and conduct a program of rehabilitative therapeutic activities specific to the population served + Ability to plan, organize, develop tactical plans and set priorities + Ability to provide appropriate care and progress treatment based on professional standards of practice, and on the needs of the specific individual, including age and developmental considerations, cultural and psychosocial issues, precautions and medical condition + Ability to solve technical and non-technical problems + Ability to mediate and resolve complex problems and issues + Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results + Ability to utilize sound clinical reasoning to determine appropriate patient interventions; demonstrates good safety awareness, judgment and problem analysis and resolution + Ability to work effectively both as a team member and team leader + Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization + Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area + Knowledge of Medical Terminology + Knowledge of principles, methods, equipment and theory of the practice of clinical specialty **Licenses and Certifications** + BLS - Basic Life Support + OTR - Reg Occup Therapist or + SLP - Speech Language Practitioner or + PT - CA Physical Therapist or + AUDIO - Audiologist - Dispensing **These principles apply to ALL employees:** **SHC Commitment to Providing an Exceptional Patient & Family Experience** _Stanford Health Care sets a high standard for delivering value and an exceptional experience for our patients and families.
