Position OverviewThe Assistant Meat Manager is responsible for assisting the Meat Manager in directing and supervising all functions and activities of Meat Department personnel to achieve the sales and profit goals established for the department; to ensure that the work shifts of all department personnel contribute to the financial best interests of the store.

Provide friendly and attentive customer service as you assist the Meat Manager with overseeing the day to day operations of the department Supervise the department team to achieve sales, gross profit and shrink goals Handle receiving, storage, processing, cutting, and trimming meat products; packaging, tying, wrapping, weighing, pricing, and labeling products; maintaining case conditions and stock levels Fulfilling customer requests for product from the meat case and help answer their meat questions Assist the Meat Manager with selection, training, development and scheduling of meat associatesTravel Required:No

Specialized Knowledge : Assistant Meat Manager candidates must be a certified meat cutter or apprentice and have adequate knowledge of the preparation of different cuts of meat.Special Skills : Operation of Knives, Patty Machine, Grinder, Wrapping Machine, Computerized Scales, High Pressure Cleaner, Cubing Machine, Baller/Compactor, Bandsaw, Pallet Jack, Walkie Stacker;Physical abilities: : Accurate vision; Occasional amounts of sitting, climbing, stooping, and feeling; Constant amounts of standing, lifting/carrying loads up to 100 lb, reaching, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and crouching; Frequent amounts of walking, pushing/pulling loads up to 80 lb, and exposure to temperatures down to 35 degreesOther: : Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills and the ability to operate knives, bandsaw, grinder, slicer, and various other meat processing equipment, as well as case cutters, wrapping machine, baler/compactor, and computerized scales is also important.Other: : Ability to read, write, perform basic math functions, and basic computer skills
